Dr. (peter) Eagan's office is closing

I heard several days ago, of rumors that Dr. Peter Eagan's office is closing it's doors. Now I have proof, in the form of his answering machine. In August 30th, he will be shutting his doors, so if You wish to pick up your records, you need to do this quickly.

No other details is known at this time about this closing, or the reasoning behind them.

It may be helpful to your fellow residents, to list your family doctor, or doctor(s) you recommend here.

Yes, I have spoken to one of the nurses there and I believe she told me that they are closed this week and are mostly working 1/2 days after.

Dr. Egan will be taking his services to the Veteran's hospital when his practice closes.

I suggest G. Leroy Gallenstein III for anyone searching for a new doctor. He is exceptional in the manner that he treats his patients. He always takes the time to talk with you instead of making you wait for an hour, running in, checking your medical folder, poking your chest and back, & then running out the door to another patient.

I agree with DPolley again... wow.. I am on a nice roll... i better watch it..lol

Anyway, Dr. G is a great family doctor. He is all the things dpolley stated and more. I have been diagnosed with SLE (Lupus) for sometime now, and he has always listened to me, asked me what I would like to be treated with. (As I don't like some of the "conventional" meds used to treat my illness).
I also like the fact that when I first met him several years ago, he was the ONLY Doctor in town that would admit he didn't know much about SLE and took the time to do research on it, and learn about different treatments. I had gone to 3 other local doctors, and they knew nothing about SLE, and they just wanted to treat me with pain pills and steroids, none of which I wanted to use.

He takes most health insurances, and has reasonable rates if you are paying with out insurance.

He is in the Medowview Medical buildings, the ones beside the hospital, and his number is 606-759-7878

Wow! I'm humbled. Anyway, everything Foxy says is true. It's very tough to find a doctor who actually goes the extra mile for the patient these days. Throw in the fact that he's a really good guy and you can't go wrong.

Wow, got a good recommedation on the first try :). As a followup, I got an invoice of the last two years visits, and it says on the bottom, that they are closing in August 31.

Foxy, you hit something right on the nose. When I was Rxed with diabeties, Dr. Eagan didn't immediately stick me on meds, instead he let me work out what to do next; low carb diet, fish oil suppliments to get my blood fats down, and loose 100#. It worked. He told me last month how impressed he was, with what happened, especially since my a1c was a 5.5 - non-diabetic normal! He did say he could have stuck me on about 4 different meds at the start. (can you say bling-bling?) or how about 'bankrupcy'? ;)

I was kind of concerned that I'd get another doctor, who would want to stick me with meds, and follow the ADA recommedations which are too high in my and a growing minority's opinion.

I'll certainly check out Dr. Gallinstein's practice. My entire family was with Dr. Eagan, and we need to switch quickly.

Thanks again, folks!

- Kevin

My entire family is with Dr. G, from our 4 year old, to my husband and I... He has been our families physician for about 4 1/2 years now.
And on a side note, my hubby hates going to Dr.s, but will willing go visit with Dr. G, mainly because it is not a rush in and rush out visit. He is the only Dr. we have been to that I am not dragging hubby's hind end into see annually. LOL.

Best of luck Kevin!!

I suggest Dr Alley.. She was our Dr. the whole time we were there.. She is very informative and very sweet. She took care of my whole family . My "special needs" son, my husband, and myself. She doesn't play around with you .. and lets you be apart of the decision on your treatments.. I miss that now that we are out here with the Navy Docs ..
