YMCA pool
An open letter to
The board of the YMCA
Simply put, the swim team coaches are the ones who refuse to consider others as they often over extend practice time in the water aerobic class time. Not being able to hear what the teacher is saying because the swim coach is shouting his head off is annoying.
Also, the swimming pool water, and air, are too cold, due to the coaches open outside doors to let in cold air to cool the water for the team.
The colder water does not bother me as much as my fellow water aerobic class mates, who range in age between 40 to 70+ years. Several have a number of health problems including fibromyalgia, arthritis, and osteoporosis. The colder water is not good for them.
When I walk out of the shower room a cold blast of air, from the open outside doors hits me. Sometimes 30 degrees or colder in the wintertime. If there is no wind, the cold air is pushed into the building by a fan. That makes me angry.
My worry is that if the class number keeps dropping, the class will be discontinued. I can not get to the class in the morning, or at noon.
I, as well as the others in the water aerobic class, have a right to use the pool as much as the swim team, with the same comforts as them.
I would like to see the following rule enforced.
At fifteen till six (5:45 P.M.) the door leading to the outside must be closed.
The swim team practice ends at 6:00 P.M.
The pool by fifteen after six (6:15 P.M.) must be 83 degrees in temperature.
These are the only things I am asking for.
Thank you for your time
Russell Dickson
