I just got my first GPS and am starting to think that i should have stuck with just printing directions . I enter my destination and it shows me a route that is way off the route that i get from all the online driving directions 50 miles further and 1 hour longer if anyone has a gps can you input this zip and see what route yours gives . Starting in Maysville 41056 and going to zip 72006 check yours against say mapquest by the way my GPS is a Megellan Roadmate 1200. Thanks,

Magellen GPS units have a feature that gives you an option of either quickest route or better roads. Maybe you could play with it and figure out which way you have it set. It might help you.

I just got the new Garmin Nuvi ... it's great. There are typically the different options for your routes, scan thorugh your tool box and see what you can find. Good Luck!

Another little helpful hint if your GPS does not start you out on what seems to be the best directions is that if you start to follow the printed map the gps will recalculate your route after you start going in another direction. The part that i find that helps out the best is when on innerstates is sometimes you have to fork to the right or left or stay center and the GPS will allert you soon enough that you dont have to do a sudden lane change.
I will try my GPS out later tonight with the zip you have to see what route it gives me.

Thank goodness for onstar, you just push the blue button and tell them your destination and they download the route for you and it tells you when to turn and how far you have left to drive on certain roads it is great! I would not be with out it!

Amen!!! I am currently away from home and forgot my ever so reliable State Farm Insurance atlas and no-one here seems to know how to get anywhere. You might as well as a tree for directions.

Navagon, defiantly better for me. 99% of the time it goes the way I normally would so I know I can trust her when I don't know where I am going.
I have tried a few others that will remain nameless.
