We had a security system installed when we built our house. The cost depends on what you get. There is everything from glass break detectors to motion sensors. We went with a local company called Triangle Fire Protection out of Dover. They did the installation then set us up with a monitoring company. Not sure they are still in business heard the owner was sick. The yearly cost is offset by the savings on our homeowners insurance. The feature i think i like best is the smoke/heat sensors. Your standard smoke detectors will warn you if you are home, but if your not more then likely no one will no your house is on fire until someone sees the smoke by then you probably have lost alot of irreplacable things. The one that we have with our security system calls the fire dept as soon as a sensor is set off. Oh and dont worry if you burn the roast in the oven, the fire dept wont show up, they have special sensors for the kitchen...lol. Hope this helped.

I also have one installed by Billy Meyers of Triangle. I like the fact that it calls for you when something goes wrong. Bostonbaby is correct Bill has been sick. I don't know if he is still doing business or not, but he lives is in Dover you could give him a call.

We have had ADT for several years and are well pleased with it. We also had them add glass break, motion detectors, etc. When it goes off they call you, then the police or fire dept. if they can't reach you or one of the other numbers you have listed for them to call. The police have arrived in a 1 or 2 minutes when it went off a couple times. We live in Washington and the Maysville police have been great.

Not to undersell the quality of ADT. I have a company I use that has a few more features for less money. They are not a small company, they are just number 2 and proud of it. Give me a call or a PM amd I will share the info with you.

For those of you that have Adt or go through the Dover company how many false alarms are there?

Proper installation and owner training reduces false alarms. Reliable monitoring is a must.

I haven't had any false alarms. I do have motion, smoke, fire, and glass breakage alarms.

We've got the same first 2 (the dogs and the guns) at our garage and the second 2 (the guns and smoke detectors) at our home. Never had a problem that I cant handle yet. (knocking on wood....since there was a strange guy walking past my house staring at it awful hard a few minutes ago).

We get a lot at EPT, just ask the Fire Dept. We monitor water flow on our sprinkler system for fire alarm not smoke. You won't have that problem. I also have the redneck system at home and the dog'ssss give me false alarms every now and again.

The only false alarms we have had are the ones we caused, or i guess i should say i caused...lol. If you accidently set the alram off you call the monitoring company and give them a code and then they call the police and let them know. If you dont call or you dont know the code the police are pretty fast about getting there. The first night in our new home my husband was out of town, i was putting together my daughters bed rails and dropped them setting off one of the glass break detectors. My husband had failed to tell me about calling the alram company. I just went and shut it off, ten minutes later the police were at my door. Needless to say it was an exciting first night in our house...LOL.
