I love animals and i know that everyday there are some that is getting abused. I cannot stand to think about it.. I live close to the animal shelter and i can hear them barking all the time. I hope the time will come when we can get a non kill shelter.

I would like to see a non kill shelter as well and think we should strive for this. But reality is that we do not have the resources or the capacity to do this. But just because it looks impossible doesent mean we should not try...If we did we wouldent have a space program among other things that we enjoy today. Anthining can be done but it takes dedication to do it.

I know some people that if there was a fire and person and a dog needed saved but I could only save one the person would be sol.

I would like to see a non kill shelter as well and think we should strive for this. But reality is that we do not have the resources or the capacity to do this. But just because it looks impossible doesent mean we should not try...If we did we wouldent have a space program among other things that we enjoy today. Then would you explain to me how Bracken Co. and Lewis Co. can do it and"poor ol' Mason Co." can't? Seems to me that if you want something bad enough and you "squeak the gate" enough you could get some result. I just think that it has gotten put on the back burner and is going to stay there until somebody complains. Never did I think when the Mason Co. Humane Society started a couple of years ago that the other 2 counties would beat us to getting a no-kill facility. I thought the city was behind them is gettin this accomplished. It's a shame if they don't back them and help anyway they can.

Good point! I agree with you. I hate to harp on the local humain society but I truly personally doubt their intentions. And I didnt know Lewis County had a no kill shelter and I am aware of Bracken County sending Pit Bulls to rescue shelters.

You are right! but right now dogs and the infrindgement of my right because I own a dog is my issue at the moment!!!

After you said that I'm not sure if Lewis Co is a non kill or not, maybe I just thought it was from what people have said. Maybe some on here will know for sure. The Bracken Co. one is connected with Pet Finders.com and have quite a few of theirs on there right now and petfinders does a wonderful job finding homes for animals.

I would like to retract that statement and correct myself. I do support the Local Humain Society and I think they have been doing a lot of fundraising work to get things going. It is not right for me to doubt their intentions especially when they are technically not in business yet. That was a very stupid remark on my part. My appoligies to the local humain society!!!

They need our support and maybe they can be the answer us pet owners and animal lovers have been looking for.

Sorry to say we have people that will kill and eat other humans, molestlest childrend, rape women, kill like they are stamping bug.( I would save the dog), if any of those were a factor and maybe more more!

Yes, there are always more important issues, these are only what I can discuss with any intelligence , I try to address them all, but to me dog is mans best friend. Consitutional rights is also top of my list.

Does anyone know whos dog this is. It was at my house when I got home tonight.
Someone please claim this dog before my vicious pit bull adopts it like it has allready adopted fish, birds, and another dog. (He dont take care of his dog anymore and I have to do it now)LOL

This is a serious post If no one claims or adopts this dog I might have to take it to a shelter. I dont want to do that but I have too many dogs as it is. The dog is the one in the picture, it is like a scottish terrier mix. Good manered dog. Jumped in the car with me when I opened the door to get out and is trying to get in the house.

I have donated to our Mason County Humane Society placing my dog in the paper with enough money for him to make the 2007 calendar my donation was $665, plus donation this year in memory for someone who requested this instead of flowers, but am very disappointed that nothing is being done for our "Best Friends". I called and talked with the wonderful man who runs the Bracken County shelter and it is no kill unless the animal is too ill to recover or too vicious to place. I will be making my future donations to that shelter unless I can see some way the money will be used to benefit the poor homeless pets.

We should be asking our Civic Leaders why they can do such a good job getting funding for all kinds of restoration, planting trees, underground electric, new city buildings etc. not that its not good, but we can't a good animal shelter with propor staffing?

How we treat animals says a lot about us as human beings. Dogs and cats can become part of your family. I agree that human life is more important than animal, but we need to protect and care for our animals.
