What time do the races start. The bike part goes past my house and we usually set on the porch and watch them. I don't want to oversleep.

Dr. Mark Day, executive race director, briefed the volunteers working the upcoming weekend race Thursday night. The meeting was held at the local extension office.

Attending were team leaders, business leaders, community volunteers, the National Guard, MPD, Buffalo Trace Mounted Patrol, area safety and medical teams.

Updates were addressed concerning the race logistics. It was noted that the water temperature in the Ohio River is 10 degrees colder than last year.

Participants in the swim portion of the race will wear two different colored caps. Yellow for first time swimmers and others requesting extra attention. Orange caps will be worn by the more experienced swimmers.

Due to the colder water temperatures for the half mile swim wet suits will be strongly encouraged.

Also new this year, the starting line may be on shore, not on a river barge.

The weather is expected to be ideal for race fans lining the streets & roads and participants running the race. The community should exercise caution as the race winds through our city.
