***Caution***
The brass valve in a propane cylinder will be damaged if it comes in contact with anhydrous ammonia. This deterioration will lead to cracking of the valve body or its components and can ultimately result in a violent, unexpected expulsion of the valve from the cylinder, causing personal injury or death.
Why has this became an issue for the serious backyard chief?
It seams that Methamphetamines can now be Manufactured from Anhydrous Ammonia. Drug manufactures have been getting Propane Tanks from tank exchange locations, emptying them of the Propane and filling them with Anhydrous Ammonia.
When purchasing a tank this summer for you cook outs DO NOT except a tank that looks corroded in any way. Most locations that participate in Tank Exchange have been warned and are not excepting degraded tanks as returns. This should be taken to the next level, the consumer should be on the look out for these tanks as well when making a purchase.
