The anti-gay funeral protesters are scheduled to protest at Matt Maupin's funeral. There's also rumors that George W. Bush will be attending the funeral. Maupin's remains are expected to arrive in Cincinnati April 26th. A 24-hour visitation is planned at the Union Township Civic Center.
Maupin's funeral is planned at Great American Ball Park on Sunday, April 27th. A private burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
These people disgust me.

Do they want some loud biker support to drowned out their protest???? They protested at another solders funeral and a lot of bikers got together and reved up their moters to drowned out their protes. I got my bike tuned up with straight loud pipes and would love to intercept these nuts. But I wont do anything unless I know the Maupin Family would want bikers to do this. Let me know...

I think they should be banned from even being there...Couldn't the family get a restraining order against this group? Just a thought.....

This "cult" has nothing to do with religion or Christianity, they are just a group of nutjobs. The really sickening aspect of people like these are the negative impact they have on real organized religion. We have taken the "free speech" issue much too far and when people like these vermin are allowed to intrude on the grief of families who have lost their loved ones in combat, it is beyond the pale.

I hope that something - unpleasent - is done against Fred Phelps and his cult. Thank you Silverfox for that term, that's exactly what it is. A cult based around him.
And Brian? If the family allows it, I hope you put up a spectacular show! If I can, I'll go and salut him. For he's got more guts than that cult or most of us do.
[saluts Matt] RIP Matt, you did your job with honor, and have the respect of the board.

KC The something "UNPLEASANT" I would like to see done to them is a massive group of Americans protesting them to the point where we march them down to Mexico and not let them return... Thats about the nicest unpleasant thing I would like to see happen with them.

All I can say is, when does the march start, and is pitchforks, and torches mandatory? :)

Just load them all up and ship them off to fight and see how long they last. Hasn't this family been through enough over the last few years? Just leave them along and let them grieve.

It is a Freedom of Speech issue and they should be allowed to voice it. However it should be stopped at the point that it disturbs or infringes on another persons Rights.
We as a Nation have established an acceptable way to morn the lose of loved ones. This is a set presidents and should not be infringed on. We allow others and other religions their Right to morn in their traditional fashion including the Westboro Group. We only ask they extend us the same Rights that are extended to them.
While they do have a Right to a Peaceful Demonstration this demonstration should be confined to and set by standard of Tradition and within the guidelines as to NOT infringe on the Rights of others which include:
1. Peaceful and safe passage.
2. Silence in a time of their morning.
3. The peaceful gathering to Honor a fallen American.
The Westboro's Group has in fact infringe on these Rights and Tradition in the past. While some people might not attend in fear of a violent confrontation others will attend in hopes of a violent confrontation. This alone is reason to stipulate where, when and how loud their protest can be.
It is not censorship or a violation of another's Rights to restrict them when their sole objective it to incite a violent response.
