U.K. basketball game, nearly cancelled

Around 9:30p, the UK basketball game against Alabama was nearly canceled, when either a tornado, or very strong thunderstorm rattled nerves and some scaffolding in the arena. More info when it comes available. Lets face it; Billy G will be one of the most historical coaches in UK :)

The UK Game is Postponed. 11:15 pm

Official notice was given to the fans inside the arena at 11:23 pm.

Fans have been asked to remain inside the building until further notice.

There is another storm cell approaching the building.

No word yet on when they will play the game. Some of the media seem to think that the games must be played as scheduled to accommodate the NCAA selection committee.

The winner of the KY / GA game would have to play twice in one day.

The storm forced the SEC to take the unprecedented step of moving the rest of the tournament to Georgia Tech's Alexander Memorial Coliseum.

Now, either Georgia or Kentucky will have to play a doubleheader Saturday. They will meet at noon EDT, with the winner facing Mississippi State about nine hours later.

Does anyone know why they're saying only family and other credentialed people are allowed to attend the games? It's been running across the bottom of the screen on channel 36 this morning. If the fans that bought tickets aren't allowed to attend the game, there's gonna be some ticked off individuals.

The configuration of the Georgia Dome for the SEC Tournament allowed seating for about 25,000. Georgia Tech’s on-campus arena seats 9,191.

Thanks. I feel bad for all the fans that aren't going to get to watch UK play. I'm glad I'm home to watch it on tv. I'm also really glad that no one that was in the Georgia Dome last night was injured. That could have been a horrible tragedy.
