It seems like the State Road Dept. should just pay the County to clean all of the roads when it snows. The County has been working hard to keep all of their roads clear but many of the State roads have not even been touched. I live on a State "Class C" road, and in the last few days since we've had snow, it has only been passed once by a State truck. The County Road team should be commended and Judge Gallenstein should recognize them for their dedication and hard work over the past few days and every time the weather gets bad, and for the pride they take in doing such a great job. The State Road Dept. could really learn something from them.

The County Road Dept. really knows how to "git-r-done!"

I agree the county does an outstanding job. I live on a county road that leads to a state road on both ends My road is always clean but the other state roads are untouched. A few years ago I checked into why this is that the county roads are cleaned first. What I found out is that its not from a lack of effort from the state workers. Its a lack of equipment and manpower they have been allowed by the state. I cant remember al of the details but it was something like they only get so much funding from how many residence in the area and not by how many miles of road.
AA hwy, 68, and 11 are three roads that are many miles and many miles of 68 and AA are 4 lane. Many county roads are single lane.
I think they all do a good job but maybe the county and state need to find a way to work together.

I agree that the county has done a remarkable job at getting and keeping their roads clear. For example we have to travel Forest Avenue to get to our garage and it was a mess once we got out by where the county starts the road was cleared. My question is who cleans the Avenue is it the City or the State? If its the city why haven't they done a better job? Forest Avenue doesn't look like its been touched at all.

Forest Ave is the State.

I live on a road that is part county and part city. Yesterday afternoon, the county part was mostly dry pavement while the city part was like a bobsled run. Doesn't the city have salt?

This also crosses into summer when the county keeps the right-of-ways mowed and the city doesn't touch their part. Jerry Arthur and the rest of the Mason County road crew are to be commended.

I agree, they've done a great job. Just one question. When is Tucker drive scheduled to be cleaned? When I went to Wal-mart yesterday, it was about only 25% cleaned.

Guess in this 40+ degrees, it'll be clean now.
