Maysville Police Chief Kent Butcher said "A unit such as this (Mounted Patrol) would certainly be a benefit to any search and rescue mission. I could see a unit such as this being invaluable for a search for a missing youth or examples such as that".

Mason County Sheriff Patrick Boggs concurred with Butcher concerning Search and Rescue.

"From a search and rescue perspective..., they could be invaluable. A unit of mounted individuals would certainly come in handy on hilly terrain especially. It is a fact a mounted individual can cover much more terrain." Boggs said.

I think this is great! Lexington and Louisville both have a citizens patrol that are very useful! This can only help Maysville!!!
It makes me proud to have both the Sheriff and Police Chief backing this kind of program up! All will benefit from this organization!

The story ran in today's Ledger and everywhere I went people were talking about the new Mounted Patrol for the area. I appreciate Mary Ann, Bob, and Owen at the Ledger for their help in spreading the word.

It looks like there will be a great turn out for next Wednesday's organizational meeting (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&&day=2008-3-12;e=441&c=1)..
