I was driving through Aberdeen last night and noticed that "Auto Club" was now under the names of "Blazes" and was promoting Adult Entertainment and gave the hours of operation. It didn't take long for someone to fill the recent owners shoes.

Nothing like a good area "attraction" (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/showthread.php?p=46936#post46936) to get people moving in a hurry.

The company is supposed to be called Blazers, but they are not supposed to be operating. The council put a freeze on incoming adult businesses for I think it's 180 days. They are trying to enforce some better laws before more set up shop here. One of the rules they are wanting to create is the business can't be open after 10 pm (I think that's the time) and before a set time in the morning. Also, the dancers have to remain 6 feet away from customers, and have to use a money cup.... that means to contact, even for money. I'm not sure why you would pay to go to a club like that when you can go to any local bar and get a better show for free..lol

I just thought the other way around because they are Unregistered. Not that an unregistered person has a bad motive, just figured since they showed no open outrage that they were going to check it out? Who knows which they meant. Maybe they'll come back and reveal the answer.;)

Good point which is why I do not understand why people are so opposed to them. Its for ADULTS. I guarentee it would be easier to do "something" at any local bar then inside of a strip club. If you dont like what goes on inside of one then do not go inside of one. Its like that one commedian say "I know what goes on in a bed bath and beyond. I dont like it. So I dont go inside of a bed bath and beyond"
On the other hand I cant imagine a club in this small of an area getting any real good tallent.

I dont know why anyone would want to go anywhere in the state of Ohio. I kinda have my own personal ban on the state of Ohio. They dont prosicute child killers, They have a statewide ban on smoking, They dont allow a person to defend themselves, And they have the most unrealistic gun transportation laws which is a fellony if not transported to there unrealistic law. I figure if they cant allow me my personal rights they dont deserve my tourism dollars.

I've drawn the analogy before: If Maysville were NYC, then Aberdeen would be New Jersey.

Another good point. I would also bet that there were more crime and fights at Aberdeen council meetings then there was at The Auto Club.

Who cares? If you don't go in there what do you care? I never understood this whole, not in my neighborhood thinking... are you concerned that your hubby, boyfriend, son or father will be in there? Or that your wife, girlfriend, daughter, or mother might work there?
If so then the club being in your neighborhood is not your biggest worry...

Exactly Foxy. I could care less, but I had just read in the paper about then putting a temp ban on it...and for the record, my ex is the "DJ" there. LoL And from my understanding the cops have already been there a couple of times. The new owner is from Maysville, guess she couldn't have one here so went to Ohio. I've been to strip clubs, but on a more upscale level.

I never used to care... until I became a Christian. So I guess that's where the difference is. For the record I have friends who are strippers, and a cousin who was a bouncer. The problem I have with it is the fact that the girls who work there almost always become addicts to drugs & alcohol, it's the only way they are able to cope with what they are doing. All of the ones I know also were involved in prostitution as well.... and that same club has been busted for that problem.
If it wasn't so close to the school I wouldn't have as much of a problem with it though.
I know I shouldn't care or worry about other people the way I do, and that it's their own fault if they get themselves into that situation, but I just can't help it. I never used to be this way, but for some reason I feel like I have to save the world...lol
Not sure if this is a Mother thing, Christian thing, or just some kind of mental problem!

I dont think it is a fact. I think it is just the person. I work for a local company and I know many of them that are alcaholics and on drugs. And if it is something that they have to cope with it is because people are judging them. Its like this real true stripping and berlesq dancing is an art form and should be treated like a respectable ADULT profession. Are they selling themselves? Yes. But if you think about it if you work in a so called (respectable) job then you are still selling yourself. I would be willing to bet that it is safer for a person to work in a strip club than any factory job. No macheinery no chemicals or solvents to inhale. And kind of body guard to protect you. And if you are in a real strip club like solid platinum and are talented then I guarentee you the pay is way better.
Remember thou shall not judge.

The way I see it is that Aberdeen needs the money. If this is there anly concern then thy really need a differnt job. I mean lets get real. I don't see what the big deal is. Lex. and Cinn. has i don't know how many of them so if I realy wonted to go to one then i would go. There are more important things to wory about.

One could make the argument that the need to cope comes from the social stigma that's attached to the job. No stigma, no need to cope.

Stigma or stigmata?

It is very sad what has happened in Aberdeen. The city council and mayor act like a bunch of spoiled children. Their public displays of ignorance make me sick. Aberdeen used to be a very nice little town. I remember the days of Mayor Shelton, Police Chief Lang. I am not the least bit surprised that they now have "adult" entertainment. No grocery store, no businesses that employ the people, but, gee whiz, now they have "adult entertainment".

The best argument against adult entertainment in Aberdeen YET. It made me atleast think!

I don't think this is an argument for or against the club. I think is an argument that there needs to be a grocery store there. The fact that a person opened a club that was already there and NOT a grocery just shows that she wanted that kind of a business to run. Don't blame the owner for wanting to own a strip club and not a grocery store, and the new owner DOES employ people, so that part of the argument is out. He/She brought jobs to the area. They just may not be the jobs that you want to work at.
But I don't complain to the farmers for having jobs that I don't want to work at....

The best argument so far for the reason a person should be allowed to have an adult club in Aberdeen!!!
