Any word on the game tonight and if it will still be played? I can't imagine a team wanting to take the risk to travel in this tonight.

The roads are fine. Back roads still have some issues but seem to be coming alone OK. I think they will wait and see if it gets worse before they make a choice.

You mean they'll interrupt the "canned" music for that?

my daughter just drove home from college in Lexington this afternoon and said the roads were good except a couple of slick spots in Paris.

WFTM just announced that the game WILL be played tonight. JV 6 pm and Varsity at 7:30

Oh yea they're having the game. You can't drive down 68 without someone cutting you off to get to the game. They are parked all up and down 68 and across the street too. Its a disaster. I've said it before and I'll say it again this town is all about its sports.

I totally agree with you.

I remember all the flak when MCHS was called off due to weather when I was at MHS in 70's...
yet...the ballgames were played until the outcry prevailed.

Seems like it's back to the same ol' thing.
Yes, basketball IS more important that education.

Why do I say that you may ask??????
You guys that's been here a while who knows the way I think can figure where I'm going next.........

Yep, follow the money trail.

Let's talk about it.

School can & will be made up & the state will still fund it.

At $4.00 per ticket & I'm guesstimating 2000+ going to the game tonight, that's a minimum of $8000.00 worth of easy income for somebody at the school system if 2000 come in attendance.

and someone here will try to convince me that education is more important.
Hmmmmm......all I can say is, "Show me the Money"

Yep, I'm following the money trail.

Comments??..........see ya mark

They're wanting to get all the money they can since they lost the games the regional and the money they would have generated from all those games.

Who would the band play for if we didn't have sports? I'm sure you have to pay to get in band concerts. My kids make straight A's AND play sports. Studies show that students who play sports are more successful and they learn great skills so they can work with others. Not to mention........they are making memories that will last a life time. I think it's money well spent!

With a handicapped child on the Honor Roll you have a hard time convincing me they don't put education 1st.

Honestly I was glad I didn't have to get up 2 hours early to chisel ice off my walkway and cars to insure my kids didn't slip and fall. It refreshing to do it later in the morning.

I would say Mason County Schools balance education and sports equally.

I agree Chuck. There will always be arguments over why school was cancelled but the game wasn't but at the end of the day it's about education. Having the opportunity to be a member of the SBDM Council at the Middle School has opened my eyes regarding what our school system is trying to do to educate our children.
