Hello,
My name is Michael and I am trying to find some information on my family. The furthest back I have been able to get is my great grandfather Albert Cleveland Holt. It is my understanding he was born in Maysville in 1886. At some point, after he turned 24, or so, he ended up in Illinois and married an Edith Winters, I have a DOB of 1898 for her.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thank you all for your time.

Afraid I'm not much help but Albert and Edith were on the 1930 US census in Jasper, Indiana

I have that already, but thank you. It is funny, with all the "Holt's"I am having to sift through to find family, you would think that in the 35 years I have lived on this planet, I would have met more than one but I have not! There was a Holt with me in boot camp, I think he was from Kentucky, a cousin, I am sure. But he is the ONLY other Holt I have ever met. Maybe it is just funny to me?

Thank again for looking.

There was a Steve Holt (Now has passed away several years ago) that had lived in Maysville most of his adult life, I can first remember him when he was in his late teen's until he passed away (not sure what year), If he were still alive he would probably be in his mid 60's, He worked at Brownings (Emerson Power Transmission) here in Maysville until his unexpected death at a fairly young age, probably in his early to mid 50's. I can probably come up with his date of birth if you would want it. I don't know if his widow has remarried or not. Steve's hangout was in the west end of Maysville (Plugtown Area).

I would be interested in tracking his info down if you can remember/find his DOB. Thanks, I really appreciate the help.

Sorry for your loss.
Do you know any of the family history? As I said above, my GGF was Albert Cleveland Holt born in 1886, and had at least one brother named Llewellyn DOB about 1874, 5 or 6. He was about ten years older than my GGF (just found that out last night).

I would be most appreciative for any information you can pass along.

I find it interesting that on the 1900 Indiana Census, Llewellyn, Albert, and a 'Lillis' all appear as 'servants', all born in Ky., but in 3 different counties in IN.

Following a hunch on Lillis in Miami Co., I searched their GenWeb site and found a list of landowners for that time period that include Holt's. Unfortunately it really doesn't give much info.

Ancestry.com for Llewellyn only turned up the 1900 & 1910 Indiana Census.

Albert was in Mill Creek, Fountain Co. IN in 1900 in the household of Frank Applegate.
He was in White Post, Pulaski Co. IN in 1910 living with his brother Llewellyn & family.

Sounds like your best bet is to acquire Albert's Death Certificate. Hopefully, whoever gave the info for it was also able to give his parents' names.

Thanks. I have not been able to find them in the 1900 census, yet. And, unfortunately, I do not have nor been able to find Albert's parents names. I have found, just finished typing the information into my PC in fact, a bunch of family from Edith's family, The Winter Family and her parents George Winter and Victoria Truet. I had their names before tonight, but I now have George's father, mother and siblings. So, I guess that is something?

Thanks, again, to everyone that has helped. It is very appreciated.

Yes, that is something. You may stumble across Albert's parents in your search! Even their marriage certificate/bond may reveal his parents. Some states required it to be listed.
Good luck with your search! BTW, the info I gave you came from ancestry.com. If I can do some lookups for you, just ask.

I know quite a few Holts from the Maysville area. The Steve Holt born in 1943 was my neighbor for about 5yrs. We lived on Limestone Terr. and I was one of the people his wife came and got after he passed. I know his wifes name i believe was Marilyn. I know of 2 kids Steven Holt which passed away unexpected 3yrs after his father and a girl I believe was Jackie. After Mr. Holt died they moved tom= a farm i think in Tollsboro. Stevie as all his friends called him was in his early twenties when he passed. He had a wife also. Hope that helps.
