yes i would think that the city of maysville would want to make money. but they give the river park to some one that gave the small bid. you would think that they would take the higher bid that would make the city more money but no . da daa
allso i want to point out i am not one of the bidders that put in for the river park . i am just a friend of some of those that put a bid in for it. thanks

............if the city wants to make more money on the riverpark, why not add more electric & water hookups for the campers?
I've been boating every year there for 25 years & everyone that's run the place wished the city would add more camping slots in the back.
The slots are already back there & the city has enough equipment & surplus materials and or course an unlimited checkbook balance to make it happen.
I realize the riverpark is "out of sight-out of mind" but that's a quick way to add 20+ more seasonal campers and utimately more $$ to the city coffers.
Probably won't happen at all now if the top of the hill project gets underway.........see ya mark

I have been boating since I was a child. In the late 90's I quit using the maysville boat dock to launch my boat because of poor management. In 2004 friends convinced me to begin using the ramp again. The retired couple that ran the riverpark at that time did an excellent job but the city did less than their part. A few years ago new people bid running the river park. A cheaper bid they got the park to manage. I like the current managers but they have not done near the job previously performed by the retired couple. The ramp is constantly blocked by boaters cleaning their boats and/or onlookers. Dock space is utilized by campers boats leaving enough for one boat to tie up when launching. I have seen campers take their golf carts and climb the rock hillside almost flipping them over. Parking places designated for tow vehicles and trailers are taken up by passenger vehicles. My truck and trailer stretches over 50 feet long and on many cases in the last two years i have had problems trying to find a place to park it. I promote the campers and as many users as possible but there is no respect or supervision at the river park. It seems the taxpayer is getting the short end of the stick. The city needs to learn that the cheapest is not always better.

There certainly is very limited dock space when launching.

The before mentioned older couple didn't allow fishing, they also didn't welcome newcommers as they should have. I understand they didn't want the wild party scene but when a family shows up with their children and they tell them that they are not allowed to fish from public waters, it is going to down size the $$$$. My opinion is that even though the city took the cheaper bid they improved the management with a welcomming bunch of freindly people.

I just moved to Maysville one year ago. Last summer we enjoyed going to the riverpark just to sit and watch the river. We meet the then managers Deptuy from the Sherrif's department and his lovely wife. They were very friendly and helpful. Today we were at the park with our son's family and I found out that there is a different manager this year. Does this change hands every year? I was disappointed to not be met by the same couple as last year.

My family & I are river rats & we are there almost every Sunday afternoon.
The park mgmt. is set up so anyone can place a bid to annually run the park. Those that bids the best ( in interest of the city's coffers ) gets to run the park & the campground.
It will probably be someone different next year.
Who knows.
By the way.....Welcome to Maysville.
Hope you like it here..........see ya mark
