Jay Denham, chef at Park Place on Main, grew up on a beef cattle and tobacco farm in Maysville, Ky. When his physician grandfather retired, he put in a 5-acre garden on the farm, supplying his grandchildren with after-school chores and neighbors with heaps of fresh vegetables.

This background as a child of a working farmer and grandchild of a passionate gardener gave Denham insight into the work, care and dedication that farmers exert every day to bring food to people's tables, and is one source of his desire to serve locally grown foods at the restaurant.

Just where is this Park Place located

It's at 401 East Main St. at the Louisville Slugger Field where the River Bats play. You can take the 3rd Street exit from I-64 West, take a left onto River Rd. then left onto Witherspoon and that will put you at the back entrance about a block up; or the Brook St. exit from 65-North, follow Brook to Market and take a right on Market, then left onto Jackson three lights up and it will take you right to it. The food is delicious and worth it and Jay has also lowered the menu prices to make it more affordable for the general public. There is also a restaurant and brewery next door to Park Place that Jay oversees as well called Browning's Brewery and Restaurant. They probably make the best beer in Louisville (Kentucky or anywhere else) and the prices are fantastic. He just redid the menu to give it a more southern tradition and it is awesome. I try to go at least once a week but don't always have time.
