If you drive down 2nd Street you will notice the Homefront Café is open again.

A grand opening ribbon cutting is scheduled for next Thursday the 9th of August at 4pm by the local Chamber.

Roy Pollitt is the new operator/manager having leased the building from local historian Ernie Parnell.

Pollitt has done a lot of great things for the community and has helped raise funds for local groups like the FOP fund for the Danny Hay plaque, the Maysville Crisis Center, The Heather French Foundation and others. He is also the manger of the UHR in the bluegrass center.

The new chef is Abe Samady formerly of Moyers and Raffertys in Covington. The menu is quite impressive and affordable. The café will be open six days a week.

Now for the really exciting news.

Pollitt is bringing mainstream music and variety entertainment to downtown Maysville.

Starting at 7:30 Friday August 3rd Deb Hiler (hee-haw show) will open for Britany K and the upfront band. This is great band for those of us that like our music at a reasonable sound level and songs that we recognize the words.

You may remember the Upfront Band from the old court days in downtown Maysville.

Britany K started her music career at age 4 singing with the band. Today the band consist of now 20 something Britany, young Kdee, Ronnie and Arthur. (Photo)

We all make bad choices in life Roy has done nothing but good for the area as a businessman in the maysville/aberdeen area. Now he is trying to help build down town. Lets work on the positive that he has done and still doing.
The other is in the past.

Good luck. I'm always sending business to mom & pop resturants, especially good ones. I'll make the sacrifice and test out the new resturant for folks.

Hey, it's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it. (I'll be sure to contact Mike Rowe too :)

I'm sorry but I will not support someone like Roy. I don't care what he says he's done to try and make us forget the past. I remember reading in the newspaper some very bad things about him not so long ago. I wouldn't trust my children to go to the cafe, nor would I want to eat at a place that he runs. Frankly, it turns my stomach. My church group and I are going to walk right past the restaurant and straight to Margie's. JMHO

I forgot to mention, the Homefront Cafe is once again run by the orginal owners Ernie and Lanette Parnell (my folks, nice people), and has been since December. I'm slow in posting :)
