This cute little dog running loose in Rural Maysville yesterday looked a lot like a coyote from a distance. Closer inspection makes one think it might be someones family pet.

If it is a family pet, some would think it should be home where it might be a little safer.

Ponto, after I enlarged the second photo he looks like a family pet (dog) and not a coyote, but I can see where he could be mistaken for one at a long distance. Maybe the owner or someone who knows this dog will get him back where he belongs before something happens to him.

One thing I do notice is no collar on the dog. I wonder if it is a pet or a stray? If it is a stray, it looks well fed.

This is the part where you hate me. The 3ed picture was over the top.

Note: the third picture only represented the dog was sighted, it could have just as easily been a tranquilizer gun used by ASPCA to return the lost dog to it's rightful owner in good health.

No animals were harmed in the gathering and reporting of this story.

Let's hope the owner of this dog reads the BBS and because of our concern for animal welfare, the dog lives a long happy life in his own yard.

It's definitely a regular dog, but regular dogs can breed with coyotes too. A couple of years ago right around dawn, when my son was getting ready for school, there was this awful commotion of dogs howling outside. I went out to check things out, and there was about 12 of these little dogs swarming my german shepard dog. Anyway, these dogs looked like some kind of cute little beagle/pomeranian mix so I thought maybe someone dropped them off. (We live in the country & that happens often) I kept watching them & they would howl & run towards my german shepard dog, then when she would lunge at them they would run away. They repeated this several times. I even started to walk towards them talking in "puppy voice" trying to get them to settle down. That did not work ..haha They just started howling at me, and did the same thing they were doing to my dog. We called the dog warden & he came out. He said they were coyote mix puppies, and he had to actually shoot a couple of them because of their behavior. I'm not really sure what he did with the rest, it was the Adams County Dog Warden, so they were probably put to death also. I felt like such a big fool after thinking they were some cute little housedog puppies that someone dropped off....I am always a sucker for baby animals..haha

Rifle or anti-freeze, either way the dog is dead. Where's Michael Vick when you really need him.........LOL

I know this woman down the road from our house who took in a wild baby coyote and raised him. She let him run wild and he still stops by and sees them, spends the night, and eats a little before heading on to whatever coyotes do. I thought that was really cool and I would love to see him, but I'm never down there on the nights he decides to visit.

Looks like Lewisburg, beautiful dog!

Yes, sad to say this poor dog was wandering in the Lewisburg area.
