MAYSVILLE, KY- Artisans from across the country will be in Maysville August 17th and 18th as part of the Bluegrass Satellite and Security Buffalo Trace Balloon Race. Around 2 dozen arts and crafts vendors from as far away as Kansas and as close as Maysville will display their wares during the event, held on the grounds of Maysville Community and Technical College.
A sample of the items available at the event include candles, customized metal yard and address signs, soaps, baskets, herb wall hangings, lotions, prints, note cards, handbags, cedar bird houses, hand painted hiking staffs and hand carved walking sticks, jewelry, salsas, jewelry boxes, mantel clocks, quilts, table runners, pottery, children’s teepees, smelly jelly and more.
There will be live demonstrations, including Linda Pennington showing how to make glass beads. Artists will display their oil paintings, water colors, prints and sculptures, all in an air conditioned atmosphere.
Hours for the Arts and Crafts show are Friday, August 17th from 4 p.m. to 10pm and Saturday, August 18th from 1:30 p.m. to 10pm. There are still a couple spots available for vendors. This first-ever balloon race is expected to draw over 20 hot air balloons from across the nation. Proceeds from this year’s event benefit C.A.S.A., Court Appointed Special Advocates for children.
