Amy Baker is spending the night in Kentucky.
Mason County Sheriff, Patrick Boggs escorted Baker to Kentucky this evening for her involvement in the Marcus Fiesel tragedy. Baker faces a tampering with evidence charge for her admitted role in helping David Carroll dispose of Marcus Fiesel's remains into the Ohio River.
News crews from Ohio along with The Ledger Independent and The BBS were on hand for Baker's arrival at the Mason County Detention Center around 10:00 pm.

I missed part of the original story. What was Baker's connection to the Carrolls ?

She's the live in girlfriend of the Carroll's.. And I think you'll find that she's the one who tied up Macus...
Just a hunch...
But she testilied against the Carroll's in Ohio to get their convictions and was granted immunity in those Ohio counties...
That's the cliff notes version...

Their live in girlfriend.
It may just be me but that is hard for even my comprehension, and not much surprises me. Men may be married and have a female friend or even a male friend on the side and vice versa but not with the knowledge of your spouse and for Pete's sake not move them in and then you both share her. I may even be able to comprehend this if they were in their early 20's you know carefree but older with children in the home. Is this hard for others to comprehend or am I just getting old.

I agree Flame, but then again, what they did is hard for me to comprehend. The fact that she was the live-in girlfriend doesn't shock me as much as the crime they are most known for.

Any crime against the innocent whether it be a child or the elderly is so incomprehensible to me. The unfortunate thing is we hear more about the crimes against children than we do this live-in girlfriend thing.

I'm still in shock with the bond amount. But I like having the videos. And I don't think its about caring about Clermont County's crimes. I think its about putting someone away who committed a crime HERE. Here is where the bridge is where Marcus was dumped.

Mark, So are you saying that it is ok to do what Liz, David, and Amy did and get away with it? If memory serves me right the new bridge (where if my memory serves me right again) is where they dumped Marcus into the river and isn't that Mason County territory. The way I see your point is that its ok to commit a crime in another state, get immunity from that state, and finish off the "job" here in Mason County and we shouldn't do anything about it? I'm all for supporting the prosecutor on this one. Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I think the point being made by Mark is that we shouldn't be cleaning up the mess of an inept prosecutor in OHIO. And I would have to agree.
Fact is, Mason County wouldn't be seeking prosecution if Ohio had done their job the first time.

:mad:I do not think she should of been granted ammunity in the first place. (OPINION ONLY) I would of thought there had been enough evidence to procecute without granted her ammunity (OPINION ONLY) She is guilty for knowing of the crime and helping getting rid of the body. I mean Really!

I have to agree in part. IF Ohio had done what they should have this wouldn't be an issue. But the facts are they didn't and she did commit a crime in Mason County. I'm not sure what point Mark is making but it comes across to me and it seems like it does to others that the only people Mason County should prosecute is folks from Mason County. It even sounds like if I commit a crime in Fleming County and Mason County and I am granted immunity in Fleming County for my part there then Mason County should just forget what I did in their county. Every county has their own criminals to deal with but the facts are folks come from other counties and states to commit crimes here and it is the job of the prosecuter to prosecute all of them regardless of sex, religion, race, place of residence, nor whether they were granted immunity for part of this but not the same crime in another state or county. And again this is just my opinion.
As far as a waste of tax dollars I'm sure the political folks in Mason County waste more tax dollars for lesser things than prosecuting an out of state criminal that has committed a heinous crime. (My opinion).

I didn't mention Liz & David. They are guilty, period & should be spending plenty of time with the prison "bubbas".
One thing we must not forget is..........the prosecutors would still be looking for the killers if Amy Baker wouldn't have ratted the Carrolls out.
TheMan is right. We are cleaning up messes made by Ohio prosecutors.
I don't think she will get much time for being involved.
It's a waste of time & energy.
Oh one more thing......since O.J. Simpson was asked to leave a restaurant in Louisville Ky recently.........why not allow the Jefferson Co. prosecutors to arrest him for the wrongful death of Nicole???
After all, he was in Ky wasn't he??
.
.
.
I still think Mason Co authorities should spend more time dealing with our own criminals.........see ya mark

June 13th, 2007, 12:19 AM
Mark I don't think your seeing my point. The deal with OJ Simpson is so far different from this case. OJ didn't kill Nicole in another state and then come here to dump her. She was killed where she was killed and left there if memory serves me right. I will agree with you that had it not been for Amy that we may have never found Marcus. But that isn't the point. The point of this is Amy helped David get rid of Marcus in our county. Read Flame's post it is the words that I've been looking for but couldn't find.

There wouldn't be anything to make a big deal out of. She would have already been spending time in Ohio for her part in the murder not waiting to go to trial on tampering. But if a frog had wings.....................................

Ohio Prosecutors had to make a deal with Baker. The had no evidence without her testimony. David and Liz would have went free without her testifying against them.
Sometime very bad plea deals have to be made. We don't like it but without them justice would not have been served at all.
Now on to venue.
John Estill is an extremely smart man and Kate Hendrickson is no slouch either. Together they are a force to reckoned with. I for one would love to hear their argument on the charges.
(My Opinion)
I think they will set a president and new standard on plea deals to include all venues. Something that has been needed for a long time.
Agencies should check with all other involved jurisdictions where a crime has potentially taken place before making a deal that would assume the inclusion of their venue. The only exception to the rule in the past has been with the federal Government. They can choose to prosecute anytime the please.
With an inter-jurisdictional case it has been assumed that agencies would honor another jurisdictions plea deal.
I don't think this is their intent or if they have even considered this could bring about a new rule,,, we will call it the Estill/Hendrickson Rule. Don't make a plea deal that includes other venues without checking with people responsible for that venue.

I think we all get that they didn't do what should have been done. Got to get past that. Now that they didn't Mason County has sought to prosecute. That is the issue here. Got to forget what Ohio didn't do. Can't go back to that. Got to get with the present.

Yes, Ohio needed her testimony to get the Carrolls, but they shouldn't have given her complete immunity, IMO. That's like telling a child that you can help your friend steal the neighbors bike, but if you tell on you friend you will get no punishment.
She should have been able to plea bargain a lesser charge such as ....oh lets say ..."abuse of a corpse" in exchange for her cooperation. Otherwise OH should have told her if you don't co-operate you will be tried for murder along with the Carrolls. Even if they didn't have enough physical evidence at the time, they could have made her believe that they did and scared her into spilling the truth (or her version of the story). After all they really don't know that she was telling the truth about the Carrolls. She could have said whatever, just to save her own butt! And I think she did. I think she had way more to do with Marcus's death than she is telling. If she spends only five years here in KY she is getting off easy.

my point wasn't that the crimes were not horrific, it was that people need to look at the punishments criminals in Mason County get- their ridiculous.
Baker will probably end up on probation.

You get little or no punishment if you're a dope dealer in Mason County. Try to have a drug dealer arrested in this town. There are only three decent cops on the MPD and they can't do it all! I know that this belongs in another thread but I couldn't help myself.
