With gas prices at record levels, I was just curious if any of you are driving less or more now than you were say 6 months ago.

I keep seeing reports that say we are using more and more gasoline but statisically we are driving less.

Tell me what you and your family are doing or not doing with these high gas prices.

I live in Bracken County, so I write down things that we need from Maysville and we pick them up when we absolutely have to go up there, such as for a doctor appt. etc.

Well, I have to drive in order to do the appraisals. But when that's done, the car is parked until I have to do something essensal. Groceries, for example. Right now I'm using the U.S. Postal service a lot more, internet, FedEx, UPS, phones, emails, video conferancing. Everything I can do, that stops me from driving, I do. Heck, I just walked to SA (about 3 miles) and picked up some sodas, and chips. Was on my way during my walk, but that's beside the point :).

It's costing more, but it's good in the long run.

Once I get a few bills paid, I'll be getting a bike of some sort. From there, anywhere in Maysville, is accessable to me. Then I'll stick my tongue out at the gas pumps :)

I can't say that I can tell a difference except for I did switch jobs in the last few months that keep me from driving to the Cincy area. But I don't say oh I'm not going to go here or there because of the gas prices. I work in Maysville so I do stop at Wal-Mart when we need something instead of driving another day but that is because I just don't want to go back.

We pretty much drive the same, not less or more. We really have no choice between work, church, grocery shopping, and my son's baseball activities! Life must go on... unless we all go horse & buggy!

I drive alot more during the summer months. There is much more to do during the summer. I'll keep the gas stations in business this summer

Ooo, now that be fun. Foxy and I could start a horse stabling business - oh wait...you'd have to DRIVE to get to it, to get your horse and buggy.

Nuts...that idea went down in flames :)

Can't say anything's changed here. Between work, church, sports activities, etc. we don't get much of a break. Summer should help since I work in the schools and I'm off all summer long. Hope so anyway, my car costs me a fortune in gas...lol.

Over 61% drives more or doesn't care. Speaks volumes about the current problem.

I had to vote I don' pay attention and go on. My work is driving. The more I belly ache about it takes more food off the table. I couldn't say I drive more because I am trying not too.

I did not see a "doesn't care"option. I am sure everyone cares they are stuck paying because they don't have a choice.

I have to drive the same amount everyday. When you deliver papers you have to go no matter how high gas is. We are like the mail carriers through rain, sleet, snow, and high gas prices we still have to go. I just wish we could get a little extra when the gas prices are so high.

I work from home so I don't drive much anyways..hubby is working back out of town, so I guess my gas cards will be screaming again for a while....there is a job in the works for him here, but you have to do what you have to while you have to....:(

What I want to know is how in the world can a gas station on East Second Street can sale gas at 2.99, and all the rest have prices at 3.29 or above? Hello!!! How can this happen and what is right with this picture???

Some sell based on what it cost them. Others sell based on what it will cost the next time. Some are locked in by their supplier, other buy from discount sellers. Thus the difference in prices.

If your talking about the gas station by Ben's Car Wash, I heard that their pumps won't go above $2.99 so they have to sell it for that price. I'm not sure if it is true, it's just what I heard. Maybe someone can confirm this.

Australian fuel is $6 AU a gallon which is approx $4.80 US a gallon. This is the highest it has ever been.

People still drive same, we just have less to spend elsewhere, unfortunately the two major supermarket chains (Kmart and Safeway) own 80% of the fuel outlets in Australia, therefore have a duoply on fuel (and prices)that the other 20% can't compete with. You need fuel and food, hence their share of your family income rarely / never decreases. It's the other family items that you don't have money to spend on.

That's false I've seen their pumps past $2.99 last summer.:Banane36::Banane36::Banane36:
