This was posted somewhere before in the forums but seems to have been misplace over the years. I am reposting it to help set the goals of the site. I need to find time to modify the guidelines but don't have time.

We are a local area information site/Community BLOG. We do our best to keep the language and content "Family Oriented". The purpose of the site is to focus on local area events, issues and happenings. We do, at times, focus on national or world issues because a good debate is always fun.

What we are is "Citizen Journalist". To better define this, Citizen Journalist are people off the street like you and me that want to write articles about what is happening in the area. A community BLOG.

We are a comment site recognizing that everyone has an opinion and that opinion should be heard, like them or not. Sometimes opinion cross a line to where they become defaming. We call this on the Internet "Flaming" and those post or comments do get deleted. This is why we have site managers.

Site Managers are Maysville/Mason Community people like you that just monitor content and adjust the content to a "PG rating" when needed. They still give their opinion and post in the true nature of the site. Their posts are subject to the same moderating as any other member by any site manager, as are my posts.

No site manager including myself can set the tone or content of a thread as long as the post or comments follows the above stated basic rules. (Also see the guidelines at the top of each forum. They are maker with a stop sign.

All information is considered good, somethings may not be considered necessary for the site. Here is a list of things found that might not be good posting:

1. Spam - Basic rule is if you got it in an email it is probably spam. Please don't post it as News or Local Area Information. We do allow this sometimes but in general it is spam.

2. Spam Posting or (Internet term) "Trolling" - Multiple posting for self promotion, promotion of others, being obnoxious or any nuisance posting.

3. Copyrighted or Plagiarism - If you copy and paste text that belongs to someone else, quote your source. Don't pass it off as your work. No links to hack or crack sites. No hacking or cracking information. If it might be a "Gray Area" hack or a crack,,, don't post it.

4. Links - Links are great. If your link is in question of violation of any guideline or contains any Porn, Adware, Spyware, Malware or Virus or links to sites that contain Porn, Adware, Spyware, Malware or Virus it will be deleted.

As it says in the guidelines, any site manager has the right to edit, delete or modify any post, thread or content for any reason with the support of the Site Admins as long as their action are in "their opinion", in the best interest of the site.

I am only posting this to keep this site on an even keel. This site has a theme and a needs to stay on that track. If everyone post their events and neighborhood happenings we can build a great site.

I only design the site. It is you the people of the community that makes it what it is. It can grow or it can fail, it all depends on you the people.
