Looks like Chris is on the awards grabbing band wagon at the moment. Not only being name this years SEC player of the year, but also picking up a few more honors along the way.
Kentucky's named "Mr. Basketball" finished up the year with an average 20.6 points per game. Missing four games this season did not stop Chris from being the leading scorer in the SEC division.
Chris was also a consensus choice to the first team All-SEC. This is the second year Chris has been named to the first team All-SEC. The National Basketball Association of Coaches named Chris to the third team All-America.
Chris has gained much attention this year in every aspect of Basketball. He is one of the 22 finalist for the John Wooden Award (http://woodenaward.cstv.com/).
Fans are able to vote for Lofton by text messaging LOFTONUT to 46786.
Chris Lofton, like him or not he has made his 1st step to joining the ranks of the Maysville, Ky Icons with national recognition. Rosemary, Nick and George Clooney, Heather Renee French Henry, Tina Rigdon, Cindy & Mindy Hall and now Chris Lofton. (I know I missed a few names).

Of course I am a big sports fan but I'd say Chris is at the top of my Maysville list. Look at my Avatar I'm a Lofton fan. I hope he has a good NCAA tournament also. I hated to see them lose last night in SEC. Oh by the way, you can vote for him for the John Wooden award as many times as you like. I'm not sure how much each text message costs I'll let you know next month when I get my cell bill. I may have to pick up extra at work to pay for it. Ha Ha.

Way to go Chris! He's definitely on the top of my list, but since he is a friend of the family I have to support him either way! Also, I don't really consider beauty pageant people on the same level as Lofton & Clooney..lol No offense girls!:p

I believe when the announcers say Chris is up there with the Clooneys and Heather I think they are meaning in ther popularity in this area. You may not view them as the same level but what they do is different. All that goes into what Heather accomplished wasn't what you saw on TV with her in a evening gown walking across stage. To be on the national level of beauty pagents goes alot of hard work and dedication. Their platform and hers happened to be our veterans. The ones that just do our local fairs put in money and some time but not like what Heather had to in order to become Miss America. By no means, don't take me wrong, in my house we are big Chris Lofton fans and know how much work and dedication goes into doing what he has accomplished. Just wanted you to know that being a "beauty pagent people" when it comes to the national stage is not all fun and games, there is alot of hard work involved. Yes I'm proud of Heather French Henry, not just because she won the Miss America title but because she has used it to help our veterans and God knows we need more people to do that.

Kevin Durant of Texas will win the National Player of the Year. Doubtful that there enough Maysville or Knoxville people to sway the Wooden Award to Chris

Glad to see you support Chris so well.
I did call to vote but I must add a comment of opinion on this.
I think that a player should get this type of award on his performance. Not on popularity. If Chris is the best player for the award it should go to him, if not then....
These type voting awards remind me too much of "Reality TV". I like big brother and other show that do this polling but I don't care for it in any fashion in my sports.
Just my opinion but Sports is not "Reality TV" it is "Real Talent".

Chuck, I tend to agree however sports writers, broadcasters etc sometimes don't always make the best voters. Consider the basketball and baseball Halls of Fame.
Maybe it should just be the college coaches doing the voting.

Chuck,
Can't say that I disagree with you. If it is player of the year then it should be the experts that vote for this. Coaches and writers and etc....Because #1 I can't say that I've Durant play but maybe once just because my son said "hey mom watch him play he's good". But I don't know how all the finalist play.
