This afternoon, John Clay traveled over to Winchester to see Mason County play Clark County. He wasn't alone. Also in attendance was Florida assistant Donnie Jones and William Donovan, father of Billy.
They were there to check out Mason County's Darius Miller, the 6-foot-6 Mason junior guard/forward who is being recruited by the Gators, Kentucky, Tennesse and many others.
Miller was impressive, scoring 26 to help the Royals rally from a 10-point halftime deficit to post a 62-54 win.
He can handle the ball and make his teammates better. He had several nice assists.

U Can Put Money On The Fact That Darius Will Not Play For Kentucky. The Reason Is Tubby Cant Recruit................

Let me guess. Just because Chris isn't at UK, you think Tubby can't recruit. I don't believe that it's quite as simple as it used to be to recruit good talent. They go where they want for different reasons I think. Look at Pitino. He was a so called recruiting master mind when he was at Kentucky, but what's he got now in Louisville. Nothing. You tell me why Greg Oden went to Ohio State. I mean is Thad Matta that good of a recruiter and coach? Don't think so. Chris was different . He was way under the radar man. I don't think anyone other than Maysville natives knew just how good he would be. And that's why I think some of the bigger schools didn't recruit him. So if I were you, I wouldn't be so quick to put up money that Darius isn't at UK as a Wildcat. Cause when he's ready, I think it could be a perfect fit for him, like Chris is in Tenn.

No matter where Darius picks to play after high school his fans are gonna follow him, and no doubt we will cheer for his team even if he doesnt go with U.K or T.. Just as alot of old UK fan switching too T just because one of our home town boys are on that team. But hey we have to support out local boys. I am just glad too see these boys going on afer high school to play ball and stayin off the streets. I hope Darius picks the team that is best for him. Go DARIUS........

Me too, always a UK fan. When Tenn. plays KY I want to see Chris have an awesome game but want my Cats to win. Just because Tubby didn't get Chris is not the reason why he can't recruit., he just can't. After winning the championship with Pitinos recruited team what has he done. Pitino recruited better at KY in part to where he was. KY has that reputation and kids want to play there.
YOu are right no matter where a local person goes to play the area will watch them and want them to succeed. I"m not from Mason County and when it comes to sports never a Mason County fan but when these kids have a chance to go play ball and get a college education on a scholarship I'm all for it and cheer them on. Hey I'm traveling to Knoxville the end of the month to watch Chris play the Gators.
Have a great evening and stay warm.
