Host Tim Farmer talks with author Ron Ellis about the true story behind his 2001 novella, Cogan's Woods, a fictionalized memoir of journeys taken by a father and son in the imaginary countryside of Belden County, Kentucky.
The show was held until this weekend for a simple reason: Volland was waiting for snow so he could re-create a stunning scene from "Cogan's Woods" that turned a grove of cedars into a Christmas card. Last week, he got his wish. And by recruiting fellow Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife employee Johnny Widener to be the voice of Ellis' dad, he creates a haunting effect that will echoes with the book's message: "It's important to remember."
