The River Valley Agritourism Alliance has moved it’s next meeting to the Mason County High School Library.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 PM on the 16th of this month.

According to a press release, the reason for moving the meeting site is to see a “new web site that is up and running but is still in the infant stage”.

If you have a computer and want to save yourself a trip to the high school, the new site is www.visitrivervalley.com . (http://www.visitrivervalley.com/articles/home.imp)

The cost of the basic web site was reported to be over $700.00 according to the Alliance president Steve Dobson. The price was for the basic site and did not include hosting or on going content improvements.

The River Valley Agritourism Alliance is getting ready to start it’s third year of operation promoting just about anybody that wants to join.

The meeting is open to the public.

Dear "ponto",

I feel that if you were to report on various organizations and meetings within the area, it would be important to give your readers correct information and the entire story. After reading some of your "reporting" on our group it appears you are biased against our organization.

First, one of our members worked hard at setting up the meeting place so we could give a visual presentation of our new website. The presentation went very well thanks to the website committee’s work. The membership is very excited about its potential marketing benefit.

Secondly, the cost of the website is $700 with a one time fee of $400 for setup and design work with the balance, $300 for the annual fees, hosting, content improvements and technical support. No further fees are required. Some suggestions for the site by the members may require extensive work by the website developer which would be additional costs. These costs would be evaluated and presented to the membership for approval. The $700 was presented and approved by the membership in 2006.

Finally, we are very interested in agritourism businesses within our region to join our organization to benefit from the educational information, business networking and promotional marketing of all the businesses throughout our regional approach.

If you attend our meetings "ponto" please introduce yourself so you can receive a copy of the monthly minutes to help you report on the RVAA accurately.

Sincerely,

Stephen Dobson
President
River Valley Agritourism Alliance

Mr. Dobson,
I think you are nit-picking one of my site managers who is just reporting the basic information. I think Ponto did a good job of giving information and anyone that reads his and your post would see that the difference you discuss are minor. What you posted is really internal budgeting information the general public doesn't need to know.

I would think you would be happy with this FREE advertisement as it has generated many additional visits to your new site. I would be glad to remove it if it offends you. Which is better than you have offered for me in the past.

Mr. Dobson

Welcome to the BBS.

I hope you will continue to use this forum to keep area readers informed about the River Valley Agritourism Alliance.

As you will find out, now that you have signed up, this is a great way get your message out to the community.

As an interactive, information web site, the Maysville BBS leads the way providing audio, video and text content opportunities to showcase your organization.

I recommend you submit videos and stories from your members that will showcase their events and gatherings.

The sister sites, Bracken County BBS (http://www.brackenbbs.com/) and Fleming County BBS (http://www.flemingbbs.com/) can also help your members in adjoining counties.

As you form your membership committees, elect county representatives, expand your web site and re-write your by-laws to reflect the new direction for the Alliance, I wish you nothing but the best.

Once again, welcome to the Maysville BBS.
