According to local news reports, The Maysville Board of Architectural Review discussed satellite dishes on buildings, and approved modifications to a certificate of appropriateness for a local building.
It seems that some time back, in the early days of the small satellite dishes, a lot of people had problems with local laws and landlords allowing them to be installed.
Since this was big business and the future of communications, the FCC got involved to make sure the technology would succeed.
As directed by Congress in Section 207 of the Telecommunications Act of 1996, the Federal Communications Commission adopted the Over-the-Air Reception Devices rule concerning governmental and nongovernmental restrictions on viewers' ability to receive video programming signals from direct broadcast satellites, broadband radio service providers and television broadcast stations.
This gave most of the country the right to watch TV and now-a-days, have wireless INTERNET.
