The UK Alumni of Maysville help organize a visit from Tubby Smith, UK's Head Basketball Coach. I attended the Dinner at the Maysville/Mason Conference Center were the proceeds from the dinner are to benefit the Tom Brownings & Girls Club. The money will be used to purchase computers.
Tubby speech covered all areas of UK Basketball including the missed opportunity of not recruiting Chris Lofton. He referred to the days "BC" or Before Chris Lofton and the days after Chris was recruited to Tennessee. (Watch the Video (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/view.php?pg=ledger))
During Tubby's Speech he said "Chris is one heck of a basketball player and I wish him the best, but I know basketball is a religion to many in Kentucky and some of them considered Chris to be the second coming for what he did at Mason County. I know better than anyone what could've been and I've spent many a night kicking myself, especially after he lit us up. But there are still a lot of loyal 'Cat fans here and now that's behind us and we must move forward." (Watch the Video (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/view.php?pg=ledger))
From Tom Coe,
"This night couldn't have been held without our starting lineup of Clarke & Clarke Attorneys at Law, Limestone Properties, Clarke Insurance Agency, Real Estate Counseling Inc. and Humana," said Coe. "I invited Tubby to come to Maysville when we were on the same flight and I'd also like to thank Coach Smith for being here tonight." If you like Tubby or even if you hate the man. Tubby will still go down in history as one of the finest UK Wildcats Basketball Coach. He, like many other coaches in sports, "Missed an Opportunity in a Fine Local Player". He is not the first and will certainly not be the last one to miss an opportunity. In Tubby's words "It is time to get beyond that".
