Looks like the little neighborhood stores in India are in for some trouble.

India may soon have stores displaying the Wal-Mart brand despite government rules that prevent foreign companies from operating multi-product retail chains here.

India's booming retail market, estimated at more than $200 billion, is currently dominated by more than 12 million mom-and-pop shops.

I wonder if they have any idea what they are in for when Wal-Mart comes to town.

It is not Free or even Fair Enterprise. It is like the difference between High Definition and Simulated High Definition. It is just a make believe term to make you thing all is OK and you are getting quality.

Wal-Mart can buy a shirt for 4 bucks and sell it for $20. The Mom and pop shop has to pay $20+ for the same shirt that is Made in America and must sell it for $35.

People in India might stand a better chance because most of Wal-Marts stuff is made there.

So one could say the Made in America might carry a little pride there.
