View Full Version : Bashing the Tubby Bashers

It's now readily apparent that basketball season has arrived in the Commonwealth.
One sure-fire way is to read the Ledger Independent comment line, which I used to think was the funniest part of this newspaper. It now seems to be, for the most part, ridiculous, as well as a sounding board for less than bright people. No, I'm not saying everyone who dials 564-4045 is an idiot but perhaps the name should be changed to the whine line.
In the past few days, it has become, partially anyway, a forum for the international brotherhood of Tubby bashers.
It never ceases to amaze me just how impatient and unreasonable many so-called University of Kentucky basketball fans can be.

It is so sad but true. If the cats are not ahead by 20 Pt's. at half time and win by 35 they have had a bad game.[smirk]
And if this happens heads should roll ,coaches should be shot, and recruiters drawn and quartered, lol
It sure is hard being a U K fan

Another sad thing is its just not in Maysville where the not so intelligent people reside, its all across the state. Of course its that away with all coaches really, your the hero on a winner and a goat as the loser.

First and Foremost Happy Thanksgiving.
Now how did this happen ? I wonder will the sun rise in the east today?
Don't those other teams know WHO they were playing? How dare they score more points than our beloved Wildcats.
Surely this will be enough to get Tubby excommunicated from the holy altar that is BIG BLUE !!! [big big tongue in cheek]

We can discuss all we want but the fact is that it's time for Mr. Smith to go. Plain and simple. He may be good man but he's just not getting the job done.

First of all let me say that I'm not a Kentucky fan. But the two games Kentucky lost was to teams ranked much higher than they were. UCLA was ranked 5 and Memphis 11th. So because KY didn't pull off two big upsets you want to fire the coach? I'll give you the fact Tubby's no recruiter. Probably has the worst Kentucky team we've seen in years, but lets be fair about this, a coach can only do so much. I mean he's not out there playing.
Here's a thought, when the kids (such as Bradley) don't perform, lets pull their free rides, and bring in some new boys. Obviously I'm kidding, but what's the difference?

Your first sentence says it all!
This isn't Georgia or Tulsa. It is the University of Kentucky. The guys out their playing are the same players Tubby recruited. I have learned from reading some of your post that you are a very intelligent person but I get the feeling you enjoy taking the opposite just for the sake of argument. It's really plain and simple. It has been 8 years since UK played for a national championship. How long to you suggest we wait? Tubby is not Moses and UK fans should not be left to wonder about for years waiting for something to happen. Again, it's really simple. It's time for Tubby to go.
Now, let's start talking replacement.....Billy Donovan? Bob Huggins? What about Rick Pitino? Bob Knight?
Happy Turkey Day!!!

Thanks for the compliment, however in reality, I'm dumber than a bag of hammers. I really don't try to disagree just to disagree, but as I said in an earlier post, my views on things normally differ from most of those on this site. My wife tells me I try to over think things??? Think of it this way, if we all agreed, what a boring site this would be.
There is a deep winning tradition at UK for sure, and I know the fans expect to win every time out. I just get a little ticked, when the first thing we consider when they lose is "fire the coach". Not attacking your views here Kelty, just a general statement.
I'm just trying to get you thinking, should schools have the ability to cut the scholarships of the players if "they're" not winning? When we think of a basketball (or any sports) team, there is a lot of elements, the coach is obviously one, but the players, assistant coaches, trainers, and yes even fans are part of the program.
Even though I'm not a UK fan, I do think Tubby is a good man, and I'd like to see him and the team do well.
