Listeners noticed some of the differences yesterday as some familiar radio personalities were absent. Lee Cruse, an afternoon radio host on WLAP and Lori Henry, a radio personality for the WMXL-FM (94.5) "The Mix," will no longer be on the air.
Cruse and Kevin Bell, WLAP's program director, were told they were being laid off Wednesday after Cruse's afternoon show.
Cruse is fortunate. He has a morning gig on NBC-affiliate WLEX-TV. "I started in radio and then moved on to WLEX. I learned early on in radio, there is no stability."
Bruce Markley, who goes by the on-air name of Bruce Edwards, was told yesterday that because of restructuring his services would no longer be needed as morning producer for WLAP. He has spent 29 years in radio, nine of them working for Clear Channel.
