Code Enforcement Board members held a public hearing Wednesday regarding the presence of construction equipment at 243 Maple Leaf Road.

The owner was cited for the presence of construction equipment on the property adjacent to the Boys and Girls Club on Maple Leaf Road and the AA Highway.

The property is diagonally across the AA Highway from the Lowe's Lumber Construction site.

The owner protested the $100 fine he received.

The board agreed to drop the fine as the problem had been corrected and since the owner said he understood the ordinance.

A gas tank that was cited as illegal can stay because it was deemed acceptable for agricultural use.

I see where Mr. Sexton got out of a $100 fine. Reason ...he had not responded to notices from the city. Does this mean if I do not respond to a parking ticket, aka a notice, I now don't have to pay it?

What's wrong with this picture?

The reason that he got out of the fine was b/c he protested it and the problem had been corrected prior to court.

I dont think he can be considered a FARMER
He is more of a land owner or developer but I am truly glad they are finally going to do something with that car lot it is a disgrace.

Might be a little off the subject, but I was wondering if anyone can site the guy who owns the property(auto place) just below Pasquales. Can't really remember the name of the place, maybe because there might be a car stacked on top of one another where no one would pay attention to the name of the place for looking at the collection on the lot. That is simply hazardous, eyesore for Maysville. If anyone is coming off of Hill City road and looking to turn left to go up 68, its very difficult to see traffic coming up the hill. No way this should be allowed for pileup! Just my thoughts!

the place you are talking about is the other place named by the codes people in this article

The place you refer to is Thomas Auto Sales. You are allowed to voice your opinion you just cannot be slanderous or in short name calling and degrading.

I believe that location was what the lead in the article was about:

"The Codes Enforcement Board heard an update on action that has been taken against what has been called a "junkyard" located on US 68.

In actuality, the described "junkyard" is Thomas Auto Sales . . ."

I don't read the Ledger, I prefer the bbs, and didn't see that in the original post so that is why I brought up the auto place. Thanks for bringing to my attention.

Thomas Auto might be a little better too if they would piece out their vehicles instead of collecting totalled ones and making ppl purchase the whole vehicle. There was a totaled Jeep Liberty that had fog lights and a bug shield that was unharmed, I noticed it and called b/c these would be great additions to my Jeep liberty, they said No you have to buy the whole Jeep.

I think it's good that they are finally cutting down on the "junkyards" whether they are private or a business. That's the worse thing about looking at land today, you never know if someone is going to buy the lot next to you and turn it into a junk yard. Isn't there some kind of ordianance that says you can only have like 1 non working vehicle on your property?

I believe I read somewhere that if they piece out the cars then they HAVE to be considered a junk or salvage yard and then they would fall under different zoning criteria.

Does anyone have list of the code enforcement board members? It may be interesting to see who is on this board.

I think Jackie Sue Wright is the attorney for the board you might check with her - or call Matt Wallingford at the city.
