Does anyone here lease an HD DVR for recording purposes from the cable company? Just about to do so in order to record and playback shows that are in HD. Was wondering if those users were pleased with it? Thanks.

I use the HD DVR and use it through the HDMI port. It is just perfect. HD Recordings eat up more drive space but the quality is worth it.
Define:
HD = High Definition
DVR = Digital Video Recorder (Like a VCR Only easier and better quality)
HDMI = High Definition Media Interface

Chuck, after you tape and watch something, do you then delete it like on a hard drive? Is taping,etc. easy to do? Thanks for any help. Having mine installed on Friday.

I don't have cable, but I do have DVR. I think you'll find that it will change your TV viewing life forever. Just the ability to pause live television to answer the phone is an extraordinary innovation and I don't think I'll ever be able to go back to regular TV. Other things that I take for granted now but really change how I view TV is that you don't have to worry about finding a tape to record something. You just click a few buttons and voila. Most systems are similar in that you can just set it up to record all episodes of the show so you don't have to remember to record them. I found that helpful recently. As for the hard drive, you can record hours and hours of programming before that's filled up. When it is, it just records over old recordings unless you set them to protect. It's really user friendly. Of course yours may be slightly different with the cable company, but they're all pretty much the same (except for TiVo, they have a lot more features).

I concur with Chuck, I have the HD DVR from Limestone and run it through HDMI to my 42” Samsung and the playback is as sharp as the live feed. Limestone just needs more HD channels.

Currently I'm using the DVR that came with my DirecTV account. It's not as fancy as TiVo, but it has all the basic features you need. Funny thing is that I have a VCR (of course) but also a DVD recorder, and I don't use either anymore. I just record everything to the DVR drive and only record to DVD when that gets filled up.

I love mine but I have learned if you're recording an athletic event you need to record past the end of the scheduled program just in case the game goes OT or runs long.
