FLETCHERS' PET HAS OWN STATIONERY AND WEB SITE

First pooch Abby has her own stationery, complete with stamped doggy signature. She has cards and photos for every season: in bunny ears for Easter, in a pumpkin cap for Thanksgiving and surrounded by poinsettias for Christmas.

The West Highland terrier even has her own Internet video, giving a tour of the Governor's Mansion on Glenna Fletcher's official Web site. (http://governorsmansion.ky.gov/life/firstdog.htm)

The Associated Press sent a letter requesting records to determine how much public money has been spent on the family dog.

David Thompson, president of the Kentucky Press Association, said Larry Forgy and others are wrong to suggest that a request for public information is somehow an attack on the dog or on the administration.

"Just because a reporter is making a request under the open records law, I don't see how that's being critical," Thompson said. "We're just trying to find out the information. It's not just the right of the press; it's the public's right to do that.

Anyone surpised at this? Give someone free money, and they'll waste it.

Hey Fletcher! If your giving away free money, I'd like a few million to go into space. Where's my share?

Presidents have been doing these types of "PR " things for years.
