So far, 17 states have banned liquid vaporizers, including California, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania and Ohio, but not Kentucky.
The devices could provide a dangerous legal loophole for teenagers in states where current law forbids only "underage drinking," not "underage inhaling."
The devices, which resemble asthma inhalers, can be used for just about any kind of alcohol, including vodka, even martinis.
A ban died in a Kentucky State Senate committee in February.

Today on the "Today" show, Teresa Barton, head of kentucky office of drug control was on there, as was this fellow from the company that makes those devices.
She stated that this issue will come up in the January meetings and felt that Kentucky would follow the other states by outlawing the product. She said that Kentucky has twice the national average with inhalent abuse amoung the youth and that allowing this product would just compound the abuse problems.

Alright, here's my question and I'm not trying to be stupid. Can inhaling alcohol actually do anything? I've never tried it and this is actually the first I've heard on vaporizers being used for this.

It was pretty big in California and a multi-million dollar business. I would be inclined to think it works.
Why ban it and not ban alcohol I have no clue. The machines are worthless without the booze to go with it.

guns are worthless without bullets
beer is worthless without a refrigerator
cigarettes are worthless without a cigarette lighter
So many laws to pass and so little time......................

Chevy -- That's not a stupid question at all. When I was in college we had a group of people from Chicago come a set up a stand at one of our family weekends. The booth was an oxygen inhalant for $15, which gave you like a natural high. I didn't try it but many of my friends and peers did. I couldn't see how breathing this pure flavored oxygen could be so healthy if it gave you that big of a high. I know that there are some of these businesses throughout the country, I was amazed too.
Back to the alcohol thing ... my question is will breathilizers be able to decect this in one's system? Another question -is there a legal age for it? (Still 21 or 18?)

Yes, Breathalyzers will still detect the use of alcohol by the AWOL machine,
and no, anybody with access to a credit card can buy an AWOL machine.
The alcohol needed to make the machine work still has age laws and is sold separately at your local liquor store.

Wow, they are a little high priced. You could just go to a medical supply company and get a nebulizer, It does the same thing.
