FLEMINGSBURG -- Rolling hills, an old ornate farm house, and roaming cattle make a beautiful backdrop for any business, but for a vineyard the setting is perfect.

" In a dry county, it won't be easy, but David Watson said if the precinct where they live can be voted wet, it will clear the way for the business to continue. If not, the Watson's will probably have to sell their grapes to a winery."

If the people of Fleming County realize this is about agriculture and agritourism, not about drinking, they can join other counties in Kentucky that have rallied behind local grape growers.

A recent feature on KET showcased just such a family effort. They were successful and had the support of all the businesses and churches in the precinct. The referendum passed in a landslide.
