What was you doing on 9/11/2001? Where was you? That's a question that I think will haunt us to our dying days. Older ones remember exactly what they was doing when Kennedy was shot, or when Challenger exploded [raises a hand] so what was you doing on 9/11? Where was you? How did you spend your day? Please share.

--

My day started like many others. I awoke around 9:30 or so. Got online to a on-line social area I frequate. Saw some friends I haven't seen in awile, but they wasn't talking. Finally another friend paged me, with a line I'll never forget; "Canada has bombed New York!" - that's how I remember it, because I wasn't awake yet, but then someone told me to turn on any news source, or TV or such.

That's when it happened, it was about - a minute or 2 before the 2nd tower was hit and when it happened, I thought "Terrrorism..."

After that, I was totally on auto-pilot, I can't remember much after that but I stayed online all day, trying desperately to find news, info, something. I can remember waiting for CNN's web site to *crawl* on, as it was badly overloaded. I finally heard from one friend who was setting up a links web page that wasn't overloaded, for people, and thanks to him, I got the news I wanted. I was also e-mailing and calling friends and family all day, pointing them to this web site, calling to make sure they was ok, etc.

I will never forgive...I will never forget.

and I will vote out all who I can, who was resposible for taking our troops out and not bringing that...person to justice that started this, to fight in a useless war.

I can't remember when kennedy was shot.. i was only 1 yr old. But i do remember challenger. But this morning i had got my son who was 3 yrs old at that time his breakfast none and over with. And he wanted to watch nick jr. so i logged on and yahoo page came up and said a plane has hit the tower. and i was like "WHAT". So i bribe him into watching tv in another room and watched it total shock. Then i saw the second tower get hit. And i was like Kcredden Terrorism and saddam. So i was glued to online sites and the news all that day sitting there just shaking and trying to think how to explain this to a 3 yr old. His dad came home and we sat him down and told william that some bad people that didn't like us here in America, done all this. " And his response was just like any typical kid. " they are not very nice people are they mama and daddy??" no sweetie there not. And with that he got off the couch and went back to playing. I also remember going shopping or eating out days and weeks afterwards. people faces was so blank looking and they was so quiet. it was so scarey. i will never forget or forgive either!!! God Bless America!!!!

9/11/01 - Lying in bed, pregnant with my son, when I was flipping through channels...smoke from a skyscraper kind of catches your attention....so I watched. Shortly thereafter, the 2nd tower was hit. I watched in awe....tears, you name it. Still makes me teary eyed today.

I was working outside homecountry near the Black Sea in holidayresort. I remember a taxidriver trying to tell me with his bad English about what had happened. I got an SMS about the planes that crashed to the towers, but didnīt realize it all before I saw something from tv. After that I watched tv as much as possible with all different nationalities around. We were all very shocked. A big hotel that had lots of Arabic people was surrounded with cops to protect Arabic people from those who wanted to hurt them because of 9/11. It was weird and a bit scary too. Iīve visited ground zero later on and it was so surreal to be there.

I was at work and my boss yelled for me to come to his office. He had a website up that showed the towers being hit. I don't think neither of us could believe what we saw. It's still hard to believe....

I was installing a windshield at the glass shop, when the office manager came in crying so hard we could not understand what had happened. When we went into the office I had to take a chair and knew we were in for a rough future. Bush should be trying to mend the things he has created insted of wanting to go to war with all countries. By the way did anyone notice how much gas has came down now the the election is near? Just thought I would ask.

I was actually in Nursing Clinicals at MRMC. I had just entered my 1st patient of the days room and of course CNN was on. I sat with her for I know a good 30 minutes. I remeber seeing the 2nd tower being hit. It is still hard to comprehend. I too shall not forgive or forget. I also want to remind everyone that on Monday 9/11/2006 the 5th anniversary at 7:30 at the Limestone Landing the City of Maysville and the AMVETS will be hosting a rememberance for all civilians, first responders, veterans, and those on active duty. I hope all can make it down.

And Donnie yes I have noticed. Yesterday in Cincinnati we got gas for $2.17 a gallon.

I was asleep on the couch with a virus. My mother called me a told me to turn on the t.v. and I turned it on just in time to see the second tower hit. It took me a minute to realize that this was real. My husband was at work, and I called him. He said they had been listening to it on the radio. I remember just sitting there and crying.

I was pregnant with my now 4 1/2 year old son, sitting in the dentist's chair when the receptionist came back and said,"someone flew planes into the Twin Towers"!!!! I was just dumbfounded, didn't know what to think, or say, just on autopilot. I sat in front of the t.v. flipping from Fox to CNN the entire day, evening, morning and weeks ahead. I have a friend who lives a few blocks from where the Twin Towers stood, he saw it all, from the first hit, to the fall of both towers. It's something that I will never forget.

I was in my office with the Today show on like every other morning, not paying much attention to the TV, when I heard them cut away to a live shot of the towers from a camera that must have been mounted on top of another building. You could see the smoke and they were reporting that there was some kind of explosion and then they said that witnesses had reported a plane flying into the building, and they thought it was an accident.

As they were talking with the live shot of the towers in the background, the second plane flew in. I couldn't believe it. I was stunned and felt like there was something I should do. I felt helpless, angry and I was scared for the people inside the towers. I called my sister in Versailles and told her to turn on her TV at her work and we were talking and that's when they came on and said that the Pentagon had been hit. I wondered when it would stop and what would be hit next.

Well Challenger, I was in the gymnasium at Aberdeen Elem. where we were all gathered to watch the launch.

On the 11th...My day started like any other, I got the four boys off to school, and my partner off to work. I was sitting in the middle of the bed trying to think where I was going to start unpacking, as we had just moved in 10 days earlier. As I was watching tv they broke in and said the tower was hit.I watched the 2nd one hit and the towers fall. All I could think was is my sister in the city or what? I finally heard from her the next day but I cried for hours just knowing what those families were going to face in losing their loved ones.

I remember JFK getting shot, we watched it on the black and white tv. I was young but do remember having sad feelings.
The challenger: I was sitting on the couch watching the launch, something I always did, I love watching the launches. It seemed to take a bit for me to realize just what had happened. My heart sank and I watched the news all day.
9/11 I was up watching the news when the story broke. I couldn't say anything because it was unbelievable. My friend had just came in and ask what kind of movie I was watching and I just shook my head. It's not a movie, I don't know what is going on but one of the towers has been hit by a plane, just then we seen the other plane hit. Total disbelief. Then the other stories came in and we sat and watched all day. Feelings of helplessness and sadden hearts. I cried.

I was in Erlanger, Ky. hanging interstate signs on I-75. When our supervisor came back from getting supplies. He told us what was going on, I looked up with tear filled eyes and said "God please have mercy on their souls". We weren't able to watch it on the news until, we got back to the motel later that day.

I'm sorry, I'm not sure what your referring to. I was talking about 911 in my earlier post. Although, I do remember what I was doing when the Challenger blew up. I was home from school sick with the flu.

My dad (along with many of his classmates) dropped out of high school, lied about his age, to join the navy to go fight when Pearl Harbor was bombed. As I watched the coverage of the 9/11 attacks, I could understand why he did it. And in those days, they didn't have TV's to watch the coverage. Just what they heard on the radio. Amazing!

They truly were "the Greatest Generation"
