A 23-year-old man found dead in a shed near his home was crushed to death by his 14-foot pet python.

Patrick Von Allmen was found unresponsive in a shed about 15 miles west of Louisville.

Von Allmen had been alone with the snake in the shed for about three hours before he was discovered.

The 14-foot reticulated python was loose in the shed.

Reports say Von Allmen had 10 to 12 years experience handling reptiles.

I'm not buying this story. If it was a Reticulated Python it would have killed him and eaten him. Snake would not have wasted energy just to kill without eating. NOT BUYING IT!

it may have tried to eat him but couldn't, and some pythons will attack and kill with out eating, especially if they are a pet and fed by humans. Generally speaking, "wild" animals are the ones that kill and eat to not waste the energy.
On that same token, a venomous snake in captivity will almost always strike with venom, as opposed to "wild" venomous snakes generally only strike with venom when they are trying to eat.

Just a generalization, there are always exceptions to EVERY rule...

The man was a brother to my sister-in-law's nephew's wife. Can't imagine what their family is going through at this time.
