Steve Irwin, also known as The Crocodile Hunter, has been killed.
Aussie media and CNN are reporting that he was killed by a stingray barb that went through his chest.
He was swimming at north Queensland's Batt Reef at the time, where he was filming an underwater documentary.

He died like he lived. He always looked like he was enjoying what he was doing. I will miss his shows.

This is sad. He was a very energetic person. "Crikey" Steve, your death will impact an entire world.

I couldn't believe it when I heard about it this morning. He truly loved the animals and this planet will be worse off without this kind-hearted man. I hope his wife and kids will be ok! As his website says: Crocs Rule!!

I can't believe he's gone. I feel as though I lost a member of my family. I always wished that I had even a tenth of his enthusiasm and energy.

I just can't get over that he died the way he did...a stingray.
I always figured he was in more danger around the deadly snakes and gators. I have been diving with stingrays and the are not agressive. What a freak accident, I'm sure he did not think he was in any danger.
I'll miss him. Just listening to him talk...so much energy! What a shame.

The man was so passionate about the wildlife. He will be sadly missed in all of our hearts. Such a great guy. I wish I had the guts to do the things that he did.

His loss to the world will be immeasureable. I'm sure he instilled love of animals to many children, and adults and that is a rare gift. He will be sorely missed by me, and many of my friends. RIP Steve, I hope you and Marlon Perkins will be good friends.
