Mr. Edward Greifenkamp, 88, of Maysville died Monday, August 14, 2006 at his home, near his loving and caring neighbors. Assisting with his care were caregivers from Hope Home Care, who made his final days ones of peace.
Mr. Greifenkamp was a devoted husband and father, who gave countless volunteer hours to a community he loved. Mr. Greifenkamp was a member of Saint Patrick Church and a WWII Army Veteran serving in Rhineland in Central Europe . Before retirment, he was the owner-manager of Clover Leaf Diary, Maysville.
Born in Newport, Ky. On January 28, 1918, he was the son of Edward and Elsie Greifenkamp.
Edward was predeceased by his wife of 63 years Ursula “Pat” Greifenkamp.
He is survived by his five children, Tim (Pat) Greifenkamp, Susan (Ben) Alexander, Sally (Tim) Teegarden of Maysville, John (Diann) Greifenkamp of Longview, Texas and Jane (Don) Nute of Athens, Georgia; eight grandchildren Jennifer (Carter) Hay, Jonathan (Jillian) Greifenkamp, Lisa (Jody) Thacker, Mollie (Justin) Speer, Achsa (Chris Burdett) Nute, Matt Teegarden, Katie Teegarden and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by a brother Robert Greifenkamp and a sister Eileen Wira.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2006 at Saint Patrick Church with the Rev. William Hinds officiating. Burial will be in the Saint Patrick Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ben Alexander, Don Nute, Tim Teegarden, Darin Greifenkamp, Jonathan Greifenkamp and Matt Teegarden.
Honorary pallbearers will be Martha, Frances and Mary Cotterill, Osborne and Mary Ford, Margaret Ann Gorey, Evelyn Smith, Sharon Deadmond, Milton Verville, Romie Griffey, Robert Vance and Robert Zweigart.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m.on Wednesday at Saint Patrick Church.
Memorials may be made to the Mason County Public Library, Hospice of Hope, or Saint Patrick School.
