Foxy says everyone get down to the BBS fun day at Washington. There were 500 RSVP's and there are only 75 people there. She said for everyone to come on down.

I've renamed this thread to 'First Annual BBS BBQ from "For those who are on-line right now" to minimize confusion, and give people a place to post their experiences about the BBS BBQ. Please go ahead, and spread your enjoyment, or dissipointment of it here.
Note: No post was deleted, or altered in this rename. Thanks to "Pierced Bliss (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/member.php?u=1450)", "Wildcat Fans" (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/member.php?u=1538), "nickleahevan (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/member.php?u=1316)", "bikermoma1 (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/member.php?u=2620)", "snowtiger (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/member.php?u=557)" for their starting posts.
Well I had a blast, even though it was COLD! (Yea, I know, no one is to blame there, but it was :)...I've posted my experiences, in my blog, (http://www.maysvillekybbs.com/forums/journal.php?do=showentry&e=39&enum=2) and also have/or going to post photos in the photo gallery. Do a search for 'BBS BBQ'
Good to meet everyone!

Man, I hated to miss it. It sounded like everyone had a blast. At least a better time than I had. Found out after school today that my 5 year old had the chicken pox and will be out of school for the next week.

Like many here who showed up to the Family Fun Day, I had a good time. It was interesting to say the least to see the familiar faces of those I knew, meet people I didn't know, and meet people I did know but didn't know I knew. Or something like that.
I've been really busy the past couple of months and don't have the time to post all that often, so it was good to get out and meet people in person. Sure does help the sore fingers I sometimes get from typing long and drawn out posts too, though the group I was hanging with had me laughing so much my cheeks hurt instead, so I guess it balances out.
I just wanted to say to all those I met, you're good people, even those I find myself debating now and then here.
I also wanted to stress the importance of community events like this. I can imagine for many living in a small town where there's not much to do that you get kind of used to the day-to-day routine. Get up and go to work. Come home. Watch TV. Go to bed. Get up and do it all over again. I know most of you out there work a lot harder than I do, so you're probably pretty tired when you get back from work. But community events like these gives you a chance to get out there and see who are the people in your neighborhood.
Not every small town has the type of events that people in Maysville put together so I really encourage everyone to take advantage of them. I remember awhile back the Ledger had a poll up on their website that listed something like five different things going on around town and asked which of these are you more likely to attend. The last poll option was "None of the Above". Something like 70% of the people who voted chose that option. I don't like to criticize as I know we've all got our "thing", but if you don't take advantage of these opportunities, they eventually do go away.
Since I didn't put on this show and I don't feel guilty about giving other people guilt trips when it might be fun to do so, I'd like to remind everyone who RSVP'd and didn't show up that there's a PayPal donation link on the home page (www.maysvillekybbs.com). If everyone who RSVP'd donates just $5, it'll cover the massive amounts of food that the rest of us enjoyed. Sure, by doing so you are in essence paying for our meals and the good time we had, but don't you think it's important to punish yourself for missing the opportunity to meet me? :D

I agree with Jeremy on this one, the was massavie amounts of food leftover, and even though I was in attendance I did donate money to the cause. This event was great. The people were nice, the children were cute as all get out and were entertained to the point their parents could enjoy the adults. The food was delicious, and the band was pretty darn good.
For the next BBQ, I suggest we put our user names on the name tags, because not all of them are self explanitory like mine. :p Jeremy I do not believe I met you, but I hope to at future events. Donna, Bill and Tiffany, the "Coolmoms" crew, I had a blast meeting you all. And everyone else for that matter.
To everyone that helped planned and make this event possible, a very big THANK YOU!

I'm one who signed up and didn't get to come. I hate that I missed it cause it sounds like it was alot of fun. I have caught a terrible bout of the flu and just couldn't make it. Hopefully next year.

Well, I for one, had a great time. It was nice to meet the ones that came. For the ones who didn't, maybe this will be done again. The band sounded great too. I recommend them for the Clooney Festival this year. Thanks to all who made this possible!:)

Thanks for the kudo's. We had a blast and was just great walking around chatting with everyone.
The left over food went to a couple of very good charities in the area.
The Womens Crisis Center
The Maysville Mission
The Knights of Columbus which will be using the donation to raise even more for local charities.
Habitat for Humanity
I see it as a Good/Good and a Win/Win situation. Still tired for the work but was well worth it.

I might not know you but you are the only one I have talked to on here and I thought you were on. I haven't been in town for a while because of some business so I haven't had time to ask anyone where it was. Soooo Sorry if I offended you in any way. I think my hubby and I are going to the Jokers party tonight. If the rest of the BBS people are like you then I am glad we didn't go. Pierced Bliss I wasn't doubting nickleahevan's word.
Bikermomma, I think you may have taken Nickleahevan the wrong way...
Everyone I met was great! Coolmom, sorry I couldn't talk longer. I really wanted to talk to you and your gang. But there was soooo much to do.
One thing about being a member of a forum here is that you need to know that sometimes what you mean to say and what people read are taken different ways. It happens to me sometimes here too. I say what thing that sounds great when I read it, but someone else takes it wrong. On here, please don't get offended when someone doesn't like what you say. Here you can say it, we may not agree but you can say it. Chucks signature used to read, "I may not like what you have to say, but I am glad you have a place to say it"... I think that says it all. I don't agree with alot of what my BBS friends say, but I am glad there is a place to say it. I stick my foot in my mouth more often than not...hehehe
If you ever need directions to anything like this, just post it here instead of of a Private Message. Sometimes this site takes a little while to log you off, especially if you just close the window and don't click on the log out link.
You are more than welcome to message me and I will help out anyway I can.
I too am exhausted. I was at Daphne's around 8:30 and didn't get home from the event until 1:30. I am still sleepy as I type this.
When ever I close on the house, I am inviting you all over for a house painting party. Let me know if you want to come and help. We will have lots of food and fun....
PS
And thanks to those that donated to the fund... it did help recoup some of TCS's out of pocket costs.

I totally agree with this. I was in the process of making a badge for myself, just before I came down, but ran into so many problems, I had to abandon the idea for now. Once I work it out, I'll post a picture here, to give people ideas. I'll even see if I can find a place where you can find the plastic holding pockets that I'm using for mine. (I got this one about 5 years ago, at a con. Worked out great, and I used it for several cons since then.)
For the next BBQ, I suggest we put our user names on the name tags, because not all of them are self explanitory like mine.!

I was there. I stood over by the grill with Jeff and Chuck Doughman. I kept my political comments to myself, as I was probably outnumbered. And it was closer to the food. I just hope Chuck wasn’t too much out of pocket on this event. At least the leftovers went to good places. I saw a lot of people I hadn’t laid eyes on for a long time. And I was even glad to see some of the politicians/candidates come out. I was even polite to them too, even though my tongue was bleeding.

LOL Did you see me there? I was the blonde/brunette with the pink and purple striped shirt on? I am sorry I missed the chance to say hi! Next time come on over and say hi!
LOL
I was also glad to see the candidates there, I spoke with Stockton for a while. He seems like a great guy! Hope he wins!!

I probably saw you then, since I was around the grill at times. I was also hovering around the ice, kitchen, blowing up balloons as well. See a tall fellow, sandy hair, mustash, with a big t-shirt with horses on it, and a fanny-pack on the side? I'm sure I'd be hard to miss. Foxy and I was trying to remember your netalias, and we kept getting it confused with Ken(tucky) I think.

I hate to say this, but I’m actually kinda quiet until I get to know someone. It’s way easier to mouth off on a BBS board. But once I get to know ya, my real personality comes out. For better or worse.

I thought for sure I was going to see a four-wheel drive mud covered jeep come off roading through the park up to the shelter. Wouldn't have needed a name tag then... we'd all know it was you. :)

I left that Jeep at home because it looked too much like rain. No top on it. I drove the other Jeep to the picnic. That’s also why I left early because I’m in the process of selling it. A friend works at a car lot and wanted to get a good look at it.

To all at the BBQ…it was really great meeting all of you…I for one had both my names on my tag, but for some reason, almost everyone knew who I was before I even got my tag…go figure on that one….lol… Foxy and Bliss, Mouse, Upriver, Quiltingbee, and any others I forget to mention, you all are great ppl..<smiling>…..the band was great and we are thinking about having them play at our wedding (Renewing Vows, 25th Wedding Anniversary). Thanks to all for being so great to my family. Chuck and Daphne you did a GREEEAAAATTT job. Everything was wonderful, thanks again.
