The current cost of a gallon of gas is still cheaper than the cost of a gallon of convenient store coffee (base on a 24oz cup @ a bux 16).

Oil companies are making record profits while most people are scrambling each week to get at tank full to make it to work. A person working for $6.00 and hour might bring home $180 a week with 80 of that going for gas to make it to work.

The price of a gallon dropped .05 last week so I am expecting to see a .15 cent increase this week.

Just food for thought.

That is what I find amazing. It only takes them one minute (if even that) to raise the gas $0.30 but it takes how long for them to drop it back down? I think all of us around here are in the wrong business.

Foxy am I reading that right, $1.79? I'm not making fun but if it is that low I am driving on to there tomorrow after leaving Flemingsburg.

Here in Australia, they con you with a weekly cycle, cheapest day is Tuesday $1.32 per litre rising to $1.45 Wednesday and then drops a cent a day but never gets back down original price. 3 years ago was 75cents a litre.

Plus, with the new war in the middle east, I bet it gets even higher.

Yup that is correct. Any time I go there I get gas at the Shell just before you get on I-64. It has been cheaper than Maysville almost everytime. I get about 3 gallons here, and fill it up once on my way to Lexington, and then top it off for the trip home.

I'm taking a trip to Washington DC soon. It's roughly 475 miles. At an average of 20 miles per gallon, that's about 50 gallons round trip. $3.00 a gallon, $150! Gah! Used to be you could get a plane ticket for around that price.

Time to WD-40 my bicycle chain and get some new inner tubes.

We have to go to Lexington to Shriner's every 6 months for our son's foot and we usually fill up there because gas there is normally 10 to 20 cents cheaper than in Maysville. Not this time. We just went today and the cheapest I saw was $2.97 a gallon.

Actually a plane ticket is cheaper. Just checked and starting Monday Southwest is starting to make stops in D.C. the price from Louisville, KY to D.C. is $44!! Round trip that is $88... that is why we decided to fly my daughter home from Fl. instead of driving to pick her up.

I just saw in the paper last week we are burning more gas this year than last. It’s just that stores are now starting to see people spend less. Prices in stores are starting to rise to cover transportation costs. And don’t forget, governments on all levels are redoing their budgets because of the high cost of oil. Guess who ends up paying for that. Our paychecks are getting nibbled on from several directions.

Here in New York diesel fuel is $3.00 a gallon.
On top of the freight bill we charge 19% fuel surcharge.
