I had to share this with you folks. Although after this, you may want me ran out of town. :)

Kitty Litter Cake Recipe:
WANT TO HAVE FUN AT A PARTY? PREPARE THIS RECIPE! COMPLETELY EDIBLE, BUT YOUR FRIENDS MAY NOT THINK SO!

On a recent visit to our veterinarian to get shots for our cat I found this recipe on the waiting room bulletin board. After recovering from hysterical laughter, I obtained a copy from the office staff so that my wife could make it, which she refused to do. I took it to work and gave the recipe to a lady at work who loves cats. The pictures below show the results of her work, which looks like (you know) but it's actually quite tasty, so I decided to pass it along.

(includes notes I made while making the cake)
Ingredients:

* 1 box spice or German chocolate cake mix

* 1 box of white cake mix

* 1 package white sandwich cookies (I used Golden Oreo Cookies)

* 1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix

* A few drops green food coloring

* 12 small Tootsie Rolls or equivalent

Serving Dishes & Utensils:

* 1 *NEW cat-litter box

* 1 *NEW cat-litter box liner

* 1 *NEW pooper scooper

*Very important these items are NEW

Directions:

* Prepare and bake cake mixes according to directions in any size pan.

* Prepare pudding and chill.

* Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. (yes, use a blender or food processor...I ended up putting the cookies in a bag and using a rolling pin because I was at my Mother's when I did this, thus lacking my tools at home...and it did not give a fine enough texture. Also, I recommend using a good bit more than I did on top of the cake so it looks a little more like litter than the above picture - likely I mixed too much into the cake instead of covering the top with the cookies)

* Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.

* When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl.

* Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture moist but not soggy.

* Place liner in litter box and pour in mixture.

* Unwrap 3 Tootsie Rolls and heat in a microwave until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. (or twist them at one end so they look squeeeeezed out ~naughty grin~) Repeat with three more rolls. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture.

* Sprinkle remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over top.

* Heat 5 more Tootsie Rolls until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle with crumbs from the litter box.

* Heat the remaining Tootsie Roll until pliable and hang it over the edge of the box.

* Place box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper.

* Enjoy!

You know it can be made for diabetics too. I am used to cooking deserts for diabetics because my mother is one too. Any thing can be made both ways if you just take the time to do it. I think I will try this one out on my family first without letting them know what I am fixing. Thanks for sharing it with us.

GREAT CAKE!!!! Kinda reminds me of something I once made for an office Halloween gag. I took a white plastic bowl that looked like the "catch all" of a childs potty chair. I made lemon jello in the white "potty" bowl. After the yellow jello firmed up, I slipped a small Tootsie roll down into the jello. I still don't understand why no one ate it..........................

[laughs] I'd love to see this recipe too, Bev. If you can, please write it up, and post it here. I really think the BBS BBQ is going to be a rather unique get-together now :)

You can always add dirt cake to you list. Take a plastic flower pot and do layers of crushed oreos, chocolate pudding, and whipped cream. Have the top layer as crushed oreos, add a plastic flower to the top and some gummy worms if desired. Make sure to chill.

Also, fish dessert. Take a fish bowl, make blue jello in it as directed, and when almost firm, add a few goldfish crackers to the middle. These are not as nasty looking as the other 2 recipes, but they are fun for get togethers.

There's really no true "recipe" for the "potty" dessert. I suppose the real trick is finding a plastic bowl that looks like one found in a child's potty chair. I just whipped up the lemon jello following the directions on the box (depending upon the size of the "potty", you may have to use more than one box of jello), poured the jello in the "potty", sat it in the fridge to firm up enough to strategically place a small tootsie roll in the middle. LOOK OUT, MARTHA STEWART!!!!!!
