.........one day last week, every time I start up this ol' computer, it says "This Windows program is not genuine."

Hmmm, I had someone install Windows XP on this rascal a few years ago & I've never had any problems or have this come up before.

Here's the opening link I face daily:

http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/nonGenuine.aspx?displaylang=en&Error=3&Loc=USA&sGuid=c0e966fa-1c4e-45d9-9b57-8788702c3f9c

It says I can install a real program for a price. I'm not going to do that, so, My question is....how do I get rid of this opening link??

I get tired of closing this link every day.

I'm clueless, any help?? .............see ya mark

I have seen several Dell and HP's PC's do this in the past week. I think it might be a glitch in the wgaogon.dll.

Give me a call tomorrow if you can and I will help you through it.

This is not a virus, or other Malware, Sassy Mamma, and Mark. This is another ploy by MS to get money from you. Reciently they started to install a little checker/nag-ware program that if your Windows "isn't genuine" (by their standards), or by some off-chance the program is defective, then it'll constently nag you like it's doing now.

I do know of one web site that lists all sorts of ways to get rid of that. I won't post it via public forum but I can be reached by e-mail if you or anyone wants the link. I happen to know also it works, confirmed by a friend.

Like you Mark. I won't pay for a copy of Windows, if MS forces me. Thankfully my old Win2k version IS leagal Why I moved off XP, I got tired of MS's heavy-handed policies.

Heh I clicked on the link Mark provided and it locked up my Internet Explorer browser (IE7 beta 2). I wonder if Microsoft should put up a disclaimer at the bottom of their webpage "Best viewed in Firefox?"
