Sophomore QB out to prove he's still the man for the job
Dustin Grutza is 20 pounds heavier and one year wiser as he embarks on his second season as a quarterback for the University of Cincinnati.
But it's not a given that he will be the starting quarterback again in the fall.
"I think I always have to prove myself," Grutza said Wednesday, the second day of spring drills for the Bearcats. "I don't think it's ever mine. That's how I always have to think, because I always want to go out and get better."
Grutza, a third-year sophomore from Maysville, Ky., had moments last season when he looked as if he were the long-term answer for UC. But he had just as many other moments when he didn't.
