In the past the "Meet the Candidate" public forums and debates have suffered from low public attendance. The have been predominately been an event put on by an NPO (Non or Not for Profit Organization).
Consider this;
With a potential of 25 Candidates being present, it would take a large facility with lots of parking to hold a public forum for debate. It would also take in excess of 4 hours if you give each Candidate only 10 minutes of speak time. This does not include any time to meet and shake the hands of Candidates.
My question is, Would you be more interested in attending an Internet Chat or a Public Forum?

Hey Chuck, myself I would still like both. I want to meet the candidates and be able to see their response, not just read it. As for the large facility and 4 hours, why not hold the debate over a couple days? Have the debate for the sherrif's position and say jailer on one day, then County atty. and some other office the next day. It would possibly be a solution to the not enough time for a good debate and having to occupy such a large space. Here is another possibility for a place to hold this debate(if it happens) is the open-air stage down behind the library? just an idea.Thanks for posing this question Chuck.

i would like to see both, although i am not a mason county voter, i think voters and candidates would both benefit from an in person and a forum debate. while listening to what a candidate has to say we can gauge their reactions to certain issues, and reading what they have to say helps us to have more time to contemplate where they stand; giving us voters the best of both will enable us to make better educated choices when we go to the polls.

Glad to see the response for both. The group that usually put on this event is the Maysville Younger Womens Club. We will be supporting this event. It generally has been at the Maysville Community College.
The problem with any location downtown would be the same story we alway hear, parking. Outdoor issues might include the possibility of rain.
Now if you focused it around the French Quarter Inn there is the possibility of solving the parking issue.
Lots of ideas and I am looking forward to chatting with the club leader about this.
