The City of Cincinnati contracted with CityWatcher (http://citywatcher.com/) to install security cameras in highly trafficked urban areas.
But collecting video data is only the beginning.
Cincinnati needed a higher level of control to assure that only specified employees could access recorded data.
Two employees in Cincinnati have volunteered to have the new chips embedded enabling them access to the video data.
The chips, which emit no signal but provide passive identification verification, are tiny microchips embedded beneath the skin.
"Will this successful collaboration lead to a roll-out of technology that will enhance the safety of all citizens".
Ponto wants to know ? What do ewe think?

Wasn't this an X-Files episode a few years ago? LOL!
Yes. Yes it was. With TNT running all of the X-Files in order for the past few months and my shiny new DVR with roughly 93 hours of disk space, I have almost recorded every X-Files episode ever made. :)
My question on this one... what happens when the chip needs an upgrade? Ouch.

Here is the article I did for a couple of site and a news paper in 2003. I thought I had posted it here a couple of years ago but couldn't find it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
RFID – It gets under my skin.
RFID, short for “Radio Frequency Identification”, starts out as a small microchip about the size of a grain of salt or smaller. The packaging is made larger to accommodate an antenna to transmit and receive signals. The only information stored in the chip is a unique 64-digit identification number and the information on how to transmit that code to a reader.
Batteries are not included with this model. The device is powered from the signal it receives. This means that a “Reader” for the microchip sends a signal to request the code from the microchip. The electricity in that signal is what is used to power up the microchip. The microchip then transmits its unique code back to the reader. When the signal is gone the microchip has no power to operate and is just off.
The chip is planted under the skin of an animal needing to be identified. The process is currently being used to pet owners in some areas identify lost or stolen pets. Ranchers are just now starting to be forced to use RFID in there cattle to identify and track their location.
Why would you need this chip? To put it simple, to shop, use a phone, login to a computer terminal or just about anything you can think of to function in everyday life. Your car will only start up with pre-assigned microchip codes. Your front door on you home will not open unless your code is in the program for the door.
No more bounced checks. If you only have 10 dollars in the bank, the microchip will keep you from overspending. Didn’t pay you phone bill? No Problem, the pay phone will not activate with your microchip. Could be the end of paper and plastic as we know it.
Getting ready to criticize me or say I am out in left field? We are closer to this technology than you think. A single cellular phone can currently track you to with GPS to 15 feet of where you stand. Add RFID and you can be positively identified as well as everyone within 5 feet of your cell phone.
I have been reading rumors of some isolated test being done in other countries on human subjects. I have heard rumors and read on 2 web sites where homeless people in Florida are being used as test subjects. Nothing in this statement can be proven.
RFID is the new reality check. I fear it is here to stay. Playing soon in a hand or forehead near you.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Isolated testing I spoke of above on small groups in other countries has been proven since the article published.

what is the workaround for that? heh...
a whole new frontier to hack (http://itvibe.com/news/2767/) or is it crack? (http://news.com.com/RFID%20tags%20become%20hacker%20target/2100-1029_3-5287912.html)
enjoy...
this is interesting also (http://www.hasbrouck.org/blog/archives/001003.html)

...................here's where this is leading to............
From my Bible:
Revelation 13:15-21 (New International Version)
15He was given power to give breath to the image of the first beast, so that it could speak and cause all who refused to worship the image to be killed. 16He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, 17so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.
18This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666.
That is where this is heading to. Read the warning signs my friends. When this is widely accepted, someone will eventually get control of the computers that controls everything we do & change things to the way they wish to run things.........good or bad.
Not good at all.............see ya mark

really this should not be scary, what it should be is a wake up call! some things speak the truth no matter how bad you want to deny or over analyze what has been our road map for living as well as dying.

Observe what is and not what ought to be.
What is? RFID chips are being installed in things. Certain applications are understandable. The example of the passport is not. And use in humans is highly objectionable at this time.
What ought to be?
The beginning of the end? Been hearing that as long as I can remember, it's a long ending...
A conspiracy of a police state?
There was a nice link somewhere... will look later.
It is excellent to be cautious of this technology because in the wrong hands, it will be trouble and detrimental to society as we know it. Voice concern in the applications used to corporations and government. Be heard.
Links previously sited by this user were for example. Always be wary of the bias in sources. Take information from as many different sources as possible in order to maintain a critical, working viewpoint on issues.
There is still hope and always will be...
