Maysville-Robert Benjamin Underwood passed away March 1, 2006 at the Catawba Valley Medical Center in North Carolina.
Mr. Underwood was born in Lebanon, IL on March 4, 1928, son of the late John Benjamin Underwood and Lillie Mae Bedinger Underwood. Mr. Underwood attended Asbury College and operated Underwood Music for many years in Maysville. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Victory Christian Church at Washington. His passion was his church, music and flying his airplane.
Mr. Underwood is survived by his wife of 47 years Louise Ernest Underwood, a brother David (Carolyn) Underwood, Live Oak, FL, three nieces Holly (Bart) Wilson of Florida, Jenny (Aaron) Kipper, of Tennessee, Eva Hopkins, Florida, and 5 great-nieces, Rebkah, Deborah, Jennah, Sarah Wilson and Haley Hopkins. In addition to that he leaves two stepdaughters, Beverly (Dwayne) Wallingford, Maysville, Jane (Terry) Hay, Newton, NC, and one stepson, Ernest D. (Linda) Hughes, Maysville. Eight step grandchildren Tony (Julie) McFarland, Maysville, Timothy (Sandra) McFarland, Maysville, Michael Wallingford, Maysville, Michelle Hay, North Carolina, Melissa (Joel) Justice, North Carolina, John (Rowena) Hay, North Carolina, Paige Hughes, Maysville, and Cain Hughes, Maysville. He is also survived by four step great-grand children, Tyler McFarland, Maysville Brandon Justice, Chloe Hay, and Maggie Hinson of North Carolina.
Services for Robert B. Underwood will be 1 PM Monday March 6, 2006 at the Victory Christian Center, Washington the Rev. Byron Mills officiating. Calling hours will be from Noon until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Road, Maysville, KY 41056 or the Victory Christian Center, US 62, Maysville, KY 41056.
