Rain, rain go away. Come again another day. Chris Lofton wants to play.
But he couldn't.
A pouring rain one day a few years ago kept him away from the basket on his family's Mason County farm.
So Lofton asked his father, Franklin, to make the 20-minute drive into Maysville.
Then Chris could shoot at the YMCA.
Franklin thought his son had missed his ride. Lofton's mother, Kathleen, had already gone to town. So, no, Franklin said, he wouldn't drive him to town.
Lofton then offered a compelling and revealing argument.
He told his father, "Don't you realize somebody else has already started practicing."
Franklin put on his coat and drove his only child to town.
"If the boy's that serious, maybe I should take him," Franklin recalled thinking.
