The Buffalo Trails MultiSport Racing Committee and the Maysville-Mason County Area Chamber of Commerce are proud to announce the upcoming Buffalo Trails Duathlon, Triathlon and 5K on May 27, 2006 in Maysville, Kentucky.

For many years now multisport racing has been a favorite of elites and weekend warriors alike in Maysville on Memorial Day Weekend.

Maysville is a historic little river town 40 miles upstream from Cincinnati, 60 miles north of Lexington, 100 miles south of Columbus, Ohio.

The race is so named because of the many buffalo that roamed the area during the days of Daniel Boone.

This year the bar will be raised even higher in this showcase event as the Buffalo Trails will be a Mideast Region Club Race Series (MERCS) race, Kentucky qualifier for the Best of the US Championship in Minnesota, and Special Qualifier for the Mideast Region for athletes to qualify for Nationals in Kansas City.

If you are looking for the opportunity to help your club win the coveted MERCS cup, or earning the right to compete at Nationals, or maybe you are a weekend warrior who likes to bring your family along, this race is for you.

Many racers compare the atmosphere and community support to racing in Europe from the cheering fans, enthusiastic volunteers, live radio coverage and many community events planned for the weekend.

The duathlon will again be 2.5 mile run, 22 mile bike and 3.1 mile run and the triathlon will include the leap from the barge into the Ohio River for a .5 mile downstream swim followed by 22 mile bike and 3.1 mile run.

Big Hiney Hill will be as oxygen sucking as ever on the bike course with cheering fans along the way.

The final run will include the leg trembling climb up the floodwall followed by a beautiful view back to the finish along the river.

These courses can be very demanding for the Elite but at the same time very enjoyable and rewarding for the beginner due to all of the fan support along the way.

To help ensure safety the bike course is expected to be swept again and certified race official(s)/draft marshals will be on hand.

The rest of the family can participate in a 5K along the same Du/Tri course during the races, which will raise money for Relay for Life, peruse through the little specialty shops in town, or study the history behind the murals on the floodwall. Prize money will again be given to the winners of the Du/Tri with the nicest awards you can find for the top finishers.
